No, they would need a nice marshy, secluded side stream with a well appointed over growth of vegetation just big enough for two little fish and Mr G's bubble nest. Mrs G would be evicted straight after the eggs were laid and Mr G would set to work tucking the eggs tenderly into his bubbles. He would put any back that came loose and cover them in protective spit to keep away bacteria and fungi. The fry would hatch and cling to the remnants of the eggs for a while, still cared for by their devoted and now rather exhausted father. Then they would swim quickly away into the vegetation and disappear until they are big enough to school with the older Gourami fish and start the next generation

Poor little thing, that’s sadYes, his caring role is exhausting and I think often leaves the male so depleted he does not survive for long afterwards
I didn’t know this about fish
It is absolutely fascinating to read, but also very sad.
