The Guppy Ladies

Thank you ❀️ Koi are lovely, very intelligent 😍 My fish tank is all temperate fish, six Pepper Cory Catfish, five male guppies and four Honeys. The Cory cats are five males and one very big female, another pot luck with boys in the majority. Momma cat was laying eggs regularly until very recently. She might be getting older now, or the weather might be affecting her laying. They hatch into teeny tiny little catfish but the ones I hatched in a tub would not eat anything I gave them and I had to put them into the tank. I think the catfish fry get eaten very quickly πŸ™ The Cory cats are lovely, very peaceful and exotic. I had some tiny Panda Cory cats but unfortunately they all died after a few weeks. I couldn't see anything wrong with them, do that was a mystery. But my tank is full enough at the moment. It's small at 55 litres. It is very restful watching them. I clean it (gravel vac and algae scrape) twice a week. The filter is just a sponge filter so the water needs to be changed quite often. 🐠🐟🐠🐟🐠🐟

Temperate meaning they don't mind cool conditions down to about 16C and don't need a heater if the room is heated in the winter months.

It is a lot of work but watching them is supposed to be a fantastic therapy 😍
I love fish but we are not allowed to keep them here and I also know very little about them and their needs.
I am keeping myself in control of not popping down to check on Nibbles. Lady vet said as it will be very quiet down there he will probably catch up on a lovely deep sleep, so I shouldn’t go on during the day and disturb him. She reassured me that he will be perfectly fine 🫢
Can you imagine if i kept fish and they had babies? I would be a nervous wreck πŸ˜… how are the piggies dealing? Is it cooler?
And how do you keep the fish cool? Can you just add cold water if the tank water gets too warm?
🫢🌺🌺

Why can't you keep fish? I'm relieved that Nibbles is in the cool. He will have twice his normal energy when he comes back, so you need to get some naps πŸ˜‰πŸ₯° The fish tank doesn't really fluctuate temperature wise as it is far from the windows and sun, but you are correct. Making changes for fish depends on adjusting the water and for some fish, the Ph levels πŸͺ£ I don't sleep well myself 🫩 I rather envy Nibbles πŸ₯°

We are not allowed fish in case of tank breakages and water damage 🫣
I didn’t realise that it’s so complicated with water for the fish πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I know that you need filters, that’s why I never really considered getting fish. But I love to watch them.
Yes I envy Nibbles temperatures for sleeping. It’s still very warm in the flat but luckily not so humid. I am going to visit mum now and take her some mineral water. A cold shower this morning was lovely πŸ₯°

That makes sense 🐟πŸͺ£ it's 25C outside and 27C indoors here but much nicer now πŸ™‚

Thank you, yes it was 800 litres. It came through the bay window πŸ˜‚ there were angels.. Cory catfish.. boesemani rainbow fish from Australia and Congo tetras, fresh water shrimp and I think there were around 70 serpa tetras ( I think that's what they were called) and 100s of snails because they were real plants. It was a wonderful tank that hubby had specially made, the filters are in the cupboards underneath. He even injected co2 . I know now we're going too farπŸ˜‚ but they were good days! 🐟🐠Ness

It's a lovely tank. External filtration is essential for really big tanks. They give you a wonderful sense of being underwater 😍🀿 Ah, they are tetras 🐟🐠🐟 lovely. The shrimp must have been quick at escaping 🦐❀️ but with a healthy plant growth they could do so πŸ₯°
