Teddyx

Teddy has had some adventures over the past few nights, he has been getting up earlier and being alot more entertaining! What with more wrestling with the crocodile 🐊 picking it up and then banging it on the roof of his multi chamber then giving it a good nibble! To then starting to rearrange his woven balls,.. he literally lifted it above his head and put it down where he wanted it ( I thought they didn't like change) obviously this doesn't apply if they do it! He then started throwing paper about. So yes some very different behaviour, on his dish he has had his Nibblot and various veg which he loves. The picture is teddy fighting his crocodile 🐊

Teddy 🧸 had a good night last night! He was up for about 4 hours. He enjoyed his wheel ( he so love's his wheel) on his dish he had carrot πŸ₯• and a pea and his Nibblot. He's also got into having his yogurt drops now as well ! It took a while for him to except them but now he likes one cut in half.. as long as put it on his adventure tray! he doesn't like it if I put it on his dish. Just one of his many querks. He's loving his hides and his tunnel. He seems to be a happy little hammy πŸ₯°πŸ’“πŸ’•πŸ’žπŸ’πŸΉ Ness

Good little Teddy 🧸 πŸ₯°πŸ˜˜

Teddy 🧸 has had a couple of good nights! He's been very active enjoying his wheel for hours and exploring his enclosure. Monday night he had a carrot πŸ₯• and a pea with his Nibblot and last night he had a french bean and a pea πŸ«› with his Nibblot he loves searching his adventure tray for things ( little treats) that I hide. I did play him up last night I didn't hide anything! I did feel quite bad when I watched on camera... He searched for quite a while πŸ˜” he's still enjoying his crocodile 🐊 and his tunnel πŸ₯° here's a picture of him just leaving his cleaning station!

Aw. They tend to look for things in the same place when they're used to it. They really are creatures of routine :-) However I know it can become tricky because I used to put out two extras a night for a while and then decided he was getting a bit too many nuts too often and I had made a big task for myself finding two extras every night and enough variety. So I cut down to one and major guilt tripping and tantrums were the result!

That's exactly what's happened! I felt bad giving him too many nuts, just had to cut down. Guilt is overwhelming!πŸ˜”πŸ«€Ness

You could use pumpkin seeds instead or the occasional yippee. Mine love yippees! I don't give them too often as they apparently do contain some sugar but aren't exactly sugary. They like to find something even if it isn't a nut! Also these are nice little treats.

Rosewood little hearts

Tiny Friends Yippees - only packs of two on Amazon but PAH sell them singly

Yes I've been giving him occasional pumpkin seeds.... Those yippees sound interesting πŸ₯° πŸ€” I'll have a look πŸ₯°πŸ’žπŸ’• Ness

These pumpkin seeds in their shells are a great treat and healthy. They love cracking open the shells and it keeps them busy. I used to put a couple out as one of the extras. You could maybe go down to just one extra a day, he'll adjust to that as long as there is something special to go and find!

I usually get them from Hamsters We Love, but they're out of stock. Hopes Healthy Treats has them as well.

So you could maybe do - a couple of pumpkin seeds three nights a week, a couple of little hearts two nights a week, a nut of some variety once or twice a week, interspersed, a yippee once a week. And just rotate them around. And keep the nibblots as an extra special treat once a week maybe.

They're good for their teeth and gnawing, despite not being sugar free but not particularly sugary. They must smell nice as mine go crazy for them! Most Rosewood treats are sugar free but there aren't that many small ones. I used to use the little hearts as taming treats. But these days I use pumpkin seeds.

I think they forgive us if it goes down to one. I have to say Higgins adjusted to only having extras occasionally! But I still feel like I'm depriving him somehow. And at least pumpkin seeds are healthy :-) He'd happily have those every night.
