Morning everyone, Teddy is still reluctant to get up during the day, very active for a good 5 hours in the night. Loves his enclosure and his food. Has anyone got any tips on how to get him to come out during the day, I'm at the enclosure so much saying his name and putting my scent on tissue. Some tips would be appreciated 🤨🫣🐹Ness

Many hamsters are semi crepuscular, coming out in the evening and early morning. If you can get him used to being fed fresh food in the evening, there is a good chance you will be able to get him to do our of cage time at about 7pm or 8pm. But few hamsters come out in day time. Their eyesight works much better in dark or half light and that makes him more secure and confident. I hope he settles into a routine. Once they start to enjoy our of cage time, they are usually very enthusiastic about it ❤️

Thank you, I just worry that I'm not doing it right. I love the little guy, he did come out a couple of times for a drink around 10 am I didn't approach the enclosure because I didn't want to scare him off. Thank you for your response I really appreciate it 😊🐹 Ness

its difficult finding a time to interact with them when they only come out at night, I have the same problem with Nibbles.
He used to get up at 8:00 pm that was a good time, I could watch him and let him get used to me. Now he gets up far later and I only see him to check if everything ist okay. Except on weekends when I can stay up later. If i wanted him to come up during the day (in case of a vet trip) I just have to open the fridge door a few times :D

Cleaned Teddy's toilet corner yesterday, it went very well. I thought I was cleaning away merrily on my own, only to find when I turned my head towards his wheel that he's sat there quite contently judging my efforts 🤔he tends to sleep the other end of his enclosure and with it being quite big I can clean up his toilet 🚽 with out disturbing him. Bless him he decided to come and watch me, which was lovely. I'm not sure how many points out of 10 he gave me,I tried to give him a pumpkin seed but all he wanted to do is go and check his corner. I just wish I had my phone near by so I could have got him on video. The important thing is he looked healthy 😊🐹Ness

Teddy is such a friendly little chap, when I saw him in the shop at just 12 weeks old he came to me and was so friendly, all the way home he was sniffing my finger through the slots in his carry case, I put a wicker tube inside thinking he'd be nervous and would hide all the way home but he didn't seem bothered at all. He's very active at night spends a lot of time on his wheel, at first he only seemed to explore a small area, like the size of what he was used to, but now its lovely to see him cover every inch of the enclosure. He is such a tonic after losing Henry.😊🌺🌸🐹Ness

Thanks guys, can't wait to see him in a playpen, he had a lovely night last night. He loves having a good wash in one particular spot on top of one of his sand baths every night he does the same thing 🛁 obviously feels quite at home. He loves his big sand bath in the middle of his enclosure, every morning when I look in there's loads of footprints. He loves pumpkin seeds I'd say they are his favourite thing at the moment, tried a tiny bit of scrambled egg as yet can't say how he feels! He's such a scrumptious bumpkin 🌸🌺🐹Ness
