Teddy 🧸 🥰

Teddy gave me my first teddy related heart attack and he's been here less than a week.

Got in from work and he didn't greet me on his wheel and his food hadn't been touched!

Cue mass teddy search, we removed every hide/tunnel/ absolutely everything from his cage, dug most of his bedding up and not so much as a twitch. By this point I'm physically shaking and absolutely terrified that something was really wrong! Then suddenly a big twitch and a sleepy boy raises his head and climbs out like what on earth hooomans I'm taking a nap here do you mind? checked him over and he seems absolutely fine just a little annoyed that I destroyed his cage 🙈

Aw - he sounds like he's just settled in :) I usually put fresh veg out at night and it's gone in the morning. They never leave their veg. Providing the piece is small enough. Hamster food can often look untouched as they eat from their hoards a lot.

Glad all is ok. I'm not surprised you had a scare after issues last time.

I do similar with the veg :) were just getting him used to veg atm so he's on every other day it will be much easier when he's on every day veggies 🙈
He does normally clear most of his food however and his sand bath was also untouched hence the panic 🙈 the first time maple didn't eat he'd crossed the bridge and the first time charmander didn't eat his eye was popping out so I was very concerned. Oh is on strict instructions that if anything seems slightly off to call the vets but touch wood he seems okay now he's had a good sleep 🙈 silly mummy 😜

No wonder you got a fright and glad that all is well.
You could leave a bit of bedding or something on top of his wheel which would fall off when he turns it.
Or get a night vision camera to check the recording after a shift if you don't see him when you get home.

My friend at work has a bunny cam to check on her bunny through the night, I'm definitely liking the idea of a hamster cam 🙈 that will certainly help the anxiety I think 🤔

Antibiotics for Teddy- mummy instincts were really going at me this morning! Still no food had been touched and little man was sneezing. So no sleep between shifts for mummy as we needed the vets! He's got a raspy chest- respitory infection. He was such a good boy being held at the vets 🥰

Really sorry to hear that Teddy isn’t well but you did well to catch it quickly & I really hope he gets better soon.

I am so sorry to hear Teddy is poorly. You are so observant to notice he was not himself and get him seen at the vets quickly. I hope he gets better soon.

Thankyou- I felt awful having to take him to the vets so soon after moving into his new home but my instincts told me Teddy was not his normal self. 😔 fingers crossed the baytril does the trick!

I'm so tired - roll on 7am so I can sleep 😴 but he is so worth it 🥰

Goodness. Your instincts were correct then and not just the usual anxiety. I hope Teddy gets better soon with the antibiotics.

You caught it in time and baytril is very effective. Well done you for following your instinct which was spot on.

He's been a superstar taking the baytril 🥰 feel awful that his new home etc is all so new to him and we've had to mix in vet trips and medication but he's being such a good boy!
Anxiety has certainly prevented me from sleeping today (I slept from 9am until 9:45am 🥴) but I'm so glad we have antibiotics and we caught it early, got everything crossed 🥰

I am so sorry you are feeling so anxious and not sleeping. I can understand that. It is very worrying to have a little one be poorly. Teddy is very lucky you found him and you are going to make him better now. I hope you can catch up on some sleep today.

I'm planning on going straight to bed after I get in from work at 7am lol 😆 well after a bath and feeding/watering/medicating everyone 😅

Today teddy came out without being woken for the first time in a few days and actually ate a little of one of his sprays and had a look around 🤩 he's been so good with his meds (im putting it on a teeny bit of cucumber so as not to stress him with handling with him being so new and hand feeding him it 🥰) but I am a little nervous for his next dose as I had to lift the shred a log off of him earlier as he managed to tip it over him while stood on his food saucer so couldn't dig out and for the first time ever he legged it when I lifted it up. Hopefully I won't have stressed him out too much! So relieved to see his cheeky little face look interested again! Fingers crossed 🤞

Hamster cam also arrived today- I am so excited to set it up!
