Stormy Weather

Morning everyone, it's very windy here in Cornwall and the rain is heavy β˜”πŸŒŠ I don't like strong winds and rain together. I hope you're all ok and coping with it πŸ™ our cottage is holding up very well so far.. it was built in the seventh century so it's experienced a lot of bad weather! But that fact doesn't make me feel any braver in the dark at night with the windows rattling 😱 I'm always relieved when I get up in the morning and everything is ok. I'm sure your the same. Fortunately we put the perspex covers on the chickens coop when we heard storm Austin was approaching, so glad we did! It stopped the wind blowing through and kept their run dry. Last year with the bad storms we lost 3 trees, thankfully so far we haven't lost any 🌲 I'm looking forward to getting up to a nice calm sunny day πŸ₯°πŸ€—πŸ’• Ness

Morning! Ah it's the rattling isn't it?! Your cottage sounds lovely - 17th century is very old. I felt exactly the same about howling winds and rattling windows the night before last! It was so loud! Like a horror movie πŸ˜‚ . We're on a hill so I didn't worry about a tree crashing down but trees falling on roads is a risk. Sorry you lost some trees last year and it can be quite dangerous as well depending on where trees fall.

It went quiet here by yesterday evening and the wind had settled - so I think it's blown over in our neck of the woods. Just grey and wet.

That sounds like a good idea protecting the chicken coops.

Also looking forward to a sunny day! Thursday is supposed to be I think :-)

Yes the perspex works brilliantly! It's a bit expensive to do initially but well worth it. We take it off in the summer and store it in the shed. It helps to shelter the girls from the strong winds and helps to keep the base ( grit and gravel) dry. They are small Bantam chickens with very feathered feet so it makes it easier to keep their feet in good condition. It also means when they are happy and comfortable we get more eggs for longer. Happy days πŸ₯šπŸ₯° I hope you're right about Thursday 🌀️πŸ₯°

I guess the forecast varies in different parts of the country - I'm the other end of the country to you! But here it was showing sunny and dry for Thursday - not full sun though :-)

We had bantams when I was growing up. Cute, feisty hens who were excellent mothers πŸ₯°
