I dont want the one that comes with the cage (lovely though it is) because I have a dog and feel that it would be too easy for him to scare Kulfi.

Does anybody know of a good piece of furniture that is no more than 56cm deep? Bit of a long shot but you never know. I wanted the ikea kallex but it is very shallow only about 35cm?

The cage is on two large plastic storage boxes at the moment which is such a waste of space as I cannot get into them!

I've had a few cages on top of the Kallax. I seem to remember they are 38cm deep? On the website it says 39cm deep. The plaza base is fine on them with just a little bit of overhang. But the Omlet is a deeper cage. But it might be ok. There'd be 8.5 cm overhang front and back but the bottom of the base is smaller than the top so it might only be a couple of inches overhang front and back. It's 77cm wide so just a bit of overhang widthways as well. But something else might be more stable.

There's this desk that's 90cm x 55cm - but it maybe depends what height you want the cage as well. Presumably not too low with your doggy or a coffee table would do it. This is slightly lower than a kallax unit at 73cm high.

I don't worry about overhang lengthwise, but with the plaza 120 (64cm deep max) I had it on a deeper cupboard, which is 45 cm deep.

Actually I think a Kallax unit might work :) I do like having the storage under it (baskets) and keeping hamster things in the top two. The bottom two have other bits and pieces in.

Thanks Maz. Will look again at the kallex.

There's also this Ikea Malm chest of drawers. 80cm wide by 48cm deep. It's not that cheap though - £79. Comes in various colours. I've seen people use these under cages before. 2cm taller than the kallax unit.

It looks useful. Just be careful only to open one drawer at a time, otherwise it will topple forwards 🙁

That chest of drawers would be great except that it says to attach it to the wall. I like to be able to move things around.
I need to cut doors into the storage boxes! I think you can actually get them with doors in.

That's why the Kallax is good. Easy to move and has holes for storage baskets. Although tbh I think all Ikea furniture says you should attach it to the wall. We have with taller items but not most things.
