As mentioned on other threads, I've had one of these for a long time, from Zooplus (currently being used to block off sections of the room for free roaming). I bought another one from Zooplus a couple of years or so ago and it was faulty. Wouldn't fit together and needed some bits sanding. I ended up using part of that for blocking off areas of the room as well (and use the original one round a cage stand to block off that corner of the room! I didn't get round to sending it back to Zooplus - which would have been a lot of hassle.
'
Anyway now I need another playpen. I like the Happy Henry Homes one, which is the same price approximately - but I think it might take a while to get here and don't plan ahead enough! I didn't want to risk another faulty one from Zooplus. But I just found this pet shop selling them in the Uk. It is unfortunately £10 more though! But I decided to order it from there, because if it's faulty or really bad quality, it's easier to return it! So I'll update if it's ok or not. If it is, then my last one might have just been a fluke (perhaps pandemic quality control) and then others might be fine ordering them from Zooplus in future!

Incidentally Zooplus ofren refund you and say don't bother sending it back, if something is faulty - I just got caught up in life and didn't get round to dealing with it.

So it hurts paying £60 for a playpen! That costs £50 at Zooplus. But I think I'll need it soon and don't want to wait 3 weeks for one from HHH!

This does make our house/living room sound rather odd! With all these playpen panels blocking thigns off! But one playpen is basically in a corner under the stairs (three sides of it) to section off that part of the room. One panel from the other one is used temporarily to block the door when Raffy is out. So three unused defective panels in a box - which might come in useful for something!

Nortb East pet shop. They deliver as well (delivery was another £5!)

If someone is not in a hurry then I'd go for the Happy Henry homes one probably. The Songmics ones that Rainbow and Socks Mum have are better value and can be larger or whatever shape and size you want, but I need something I can take apart quickly and easily and just store the four panels - mine are usually stored behind the sofa.

I've never quite understood what the pop out doors are for! I've always left the doors intact or the hamster would escape! I assume it's if people want two of them side by side.

I think the doors were for if you wanted to attach it to a guinea pig run or something.

Yes, getting into my kitchen means taking an extra large step over a cardboard barrier and bags of gravel, whose purpose needs to be explained to curious visitors 😄

I’m glad you managed to find another one of those playpens in the UK, hopefully it will be fine, I got mine from Zooplus years ago & it works well for a smaller playpen when I need it, the faulty one probably was just a fluke.
I’ve had Zooplus tell me not to bother returning a faulty item before too which saves a bit of hassle.
It’s a shame Happy Henry’s take so long to deliver but it is just a small business & they seem to be swamped with orders.
You have to step over or in the playpen to get round my living room too, it’s a hamster room really!

Well the current situation is that I need to leave the fenced off areas fenced off so Raffy can still free roam. But need a playpen area for Tino - which I will probably leave up round the coffee table (as I used to for Raffy). However under the coffee table is currently Raffy's playpen area without walls, which he still returns to each night to run on his wheel - so I might need to think about having the playpen somewhere else. Not sure where I can move Raffy's playpen things to outside the playpen! Without tripping over and doing myself a nasty!

Thinking about it though, Raffy and Tino won’t be out at the same time so I can just remove Raffy’s items from under the coffee table temporarily when I put the playpen up rather than leave it up all the time.

Wish we could just put them in a pram and take them to the park 😄

That would handy!

I’m sure they’ll both be very interested in the scent if you do that!
Didn’t you have a playpen up for Pip when Raffy was free roaming, I can remember you set now.

The faulty one was originally for Pip but I was using a giant cardboard box instead - but that’s when I had another room for the second playpen and it’s occupied now. I’m not sure I can do much about the scent with Raffy free roaming the entire living room but could hoover that area between them. I wouldn’t use the same items for both of them though.

Apparently I’ve earned 599 points from the North East pet shop - to use towards future purchases. I guess that’s a point per pound spent. Not sure how many points you need to buy something rude but probably quite a lot. Zooplus used to have a points system as well but they hardly ship anything to the Uk now.

I should have thought of that!
I didn’t mean it would be a problem with the scent, they’ll both probably find it quite fascinating & they’d be aware of it in the room anyway even if it wasn’t exactly the same spot.

It’s not ideal but not sure I can find somewhere else to put a playpen up - except upstairs and that’s a long way to carry a baby Hamster.
