Say hello to my new baby!
He arrived about half an hour ago, very nervous little boy, I had a job to get him into his taxi & then he didn’t want to come out but since then he’s been very brave exploring his cage, such a sweetheart & joy to watch him finding all the new things in his home.

I had all sorts of names floating around in my head but the moment I saw him they went & Sky just came to me as perfect for him so Sky it is!

A brief video when I put him in the cage, I don’t want to scare him waving my phone at him so leaving him to settle in now.

I’ve been to have a little chat with him a few times now & he’s still being much braver than I expected him to be with me near the cage, I think he’s really enjoying exploring & finding nice things to nibble.

Ooh what a nice surprise Two chinese hamsters now! He's very sweet and I love his name. He really jumped on the video at one point! Just trying to work out what wheel that is! Is it luminescent silent runner or the niteangel cloud wheel?

Not sure where he jumped on the video, he’s much calmer than I thought he would be.
It’s the 9” moon runner, it was a lot cheaper than the normal one & I really like the wider track it has. I’ve been keeping an eye on it to see just how much it glows, it gets very little light there in the cage & only has the slightest glow so I think it will be fine for him if not I’ve been doing a bit of maintenance on my old silent runners so he. can have one of those.
I did keep it out in the lightest part of the room when I got it & it really did glow then!

Ah that's what I meant - I forgot the name of it! I didn't even know they did a 9" one! I knew they did the deeper luminescent 12" one. I maybe imagined him jumping - he was probably just moving fast I bet he loves that wheel! He's really gorgeous. Are they both the same colour?

Ah I knew I'd seen it called the moon runner somewhere. It would have been on Tom's Pet Creations as I got Molly's silent runner there.

I first saw your latest post on the Hamster Names Backwards thread and I thought I didn't recognise that name. And then I realised it must be a new hamster!

His setup looks lovely. I think because the RUB is a little bit deeper/wider than many cages you can do a lot with it for a dwarf/Chinese hamster.

I really like the RUB, you can get so much more in it & I think those proportions work well for them too rather than a longer narrow shape.

He’s had a busy afternoon, all his food has gone, he had a bowl full of forage with a bit of food scattered over it & he’s had all that out of the bowl! Obviously been enjoying himself!
All quiet now so he’s probably sleeping it off, he’s had a long day bless him.

He’s about six weeks ilguy, he does look long but he was stretching out & pancaking a bit too but he’s not that big yet.

He's lovely so nice to see his first tentertive explorations
