I'm not on social media or Reddit so this is my place to tell the world about my recent acquisition.
I volunteer for a cat rescue that uses an adoption room in a certain chain store in the US. This poor little hammie had apparently been bought in January, and the buyer attempted to return in June, far past the pet return date. The store was about to close and the woman told the employees she'd just dump the ham in the trash if they didn't take it.
Hamster is put on the floor for adoption (aka free) and she proceeds to sit there for about three weeks! For three weeks no one wants this ham. Every weekend I would go do my volunteer shift and see this baby. In the past I've seen free critters get snatched up fast. Maybe it was due to being older at 8 months. I was told she might nip, which I could absolutely care less about. Of course she's going to bite based on her past! Another employee said she's docile. I finally caved and got her. I put her in her new 75 gallon gallon and she immediately went to the sandbath to roll around and clean. She zoomed on the wheel. She burrowed like a normal ham. She was having the time of her life within minutes. She is my 2nd female and I'm praying she is less high strung than my first.
