Ham came out earlier and he is just sitting in the corner of the cage. He seems to be shaking. He doesn't look like himself. I have a video.

Hello. I am very sorry to hear this, and suggest you book an urgent vet appointment. How is his breathing? How old is he again now? You can attach a video link from youtube (I would set the youtube upload as "untitled" so it only displays on here (ie only displays where you paste the link). We might be able to notice something, but it would be best to make the vet apppointment first and tell them it's urgent. Or ask to speak to a vet on the phone, because they might give you some immediate advice.

He doesn't look good, you're right. He looks a bit hunched as well? Did you manage to get a vet appointment? Is that him making that noise as well or do you have a bird in the house?

Ok I thought it sounded like a budgie. When you call the vets I would ask if you could speak to the vet for some urgent advice until you get to see them or ask if you can send the video or have a video call. It may or may not be possible.

Was he ok yesterday? In the meantime he maybe hasn't been eating or drinking. You could try offering him some water on a teaspoon or from a syringe dropper and see if he'll take it.

He's not been eating as much as he was before and I seen him try and have a drink from his bottle. My partner is going to check on him when she gets back from work

That is good he ate something. Have their been any changes recently? Cage clean? Building work? How old is he now?

Ok so you moved house? If so, that's a huge change for a hamster - he could be just scared and disorientated. Keep talking to him and tell him everything's ok!

The other thing is hamsters can be sensitive to water quality and boiling then cooking his water might be helpful. But he needs to see a vet in case he has an infection and needs antibiotics. I hope he recovers soon 🙏

It is still possible he could have an infection yes. If he felt very stressed with the move it could have lowered his immune system. But he might just bounce back again. A new home - his entire environment is different - different aspect, different smells etc. Even just moving their cage into a different room in the house can stress them out for a couple of weeks.

So hopefully it'll just settle.
