Second chance hamsters

The small Savic Orbital has arrived so i moved the saucer near the MouseBro and put the Orbital in. Lawrence's face appeared to check on the commotion but he didn't surface. It's a totally different wheel, enclosed with a wide running track and a lot slower. I expect he'll ignore it.

I also replaced the small ceramic hide on the shelf with a big one and filled it with sand but left the big sand jar in.

He’s got plenty of choice now! It’ll be interesting to see if he does use the new wheel.

I sat and watched Lawrence for well over an hour last night where he used the MouseBro only. He run better though and hardly fell out while i was there.
This morning there is evidence that he has been in the Orbital but it's clean so he didn't scent or run in it. I'll give it a week but if he doesn't use i'll take it out again.

Busy washing.

As i've said before, i'm not a fan of online shopping and avoid it wherever possible. I've just contacted ebay to let them know that the Savic Orbital wheel was described as 21cm but a 18cm wheel arrived.

Sadly some sellers do put incorrect information in their listings. You will be entitled for a refund.

18cm is okish for a small Robo as a second wheel so i'm not opting for a refund.

I rarely shop on ebay or etsy (due to disturbing adverts) and quit Amazon ages ago because of their inflated prices. Recently i have had three consecutive, negative experiences. Ebay sent me a routine feedback requests email which i replied to accordingly.

I need to find out if there is a 21cm Savic Orbital described as a medium size. Maybe they sent me the wrong one or the seller tried to pass off a small wheel as a medium one. If that is the case, i'll send it back.

There does seem to be a 21cm wheel according to what I have seen.

I really feel for you because you have had bad experiences. I only shop online and rarely have bad experiences.

You have been unfortunate lately Beryl, it’s a real shame as shopping online is usually pretty good, must be very frustrating, do you check the sellers rating on ebay? It’s always worth having a look & at least you do have the ebay money back guarantee if things aren’t right.
I don’t use Ebay or Etsy often but they’ve been ok when I have.
Amazon can be ridiculously over priced on some things but I often find things the same as elsewhere or cheaper.
Maybe it’s what you’re used to though, I don’t have shops nearby so rely on online shopping entirely!

Yes, they sent me the wrong wheel. I ordered the 21cm and they sent me the 18cm. I thought it looked small but wasn't aware at the time that the green dwarf hamster ones come in two sizes. Now i'm wondering if i can be bothered returning it after the time consuming carry on with the wrong paint 🤔.

No, i don't check ratings because i'm not convinced they are genuine.

Did you measure the wheel itself or the wheel with the stand Beryl, I had a look on the Savic website & on there it only has two sizes 21cm & 32cm so I’m wondering if you did get the right one?

I measured the wheel only which is 18cm. I have the blue 32cm one and thought the lime green one was 21cm. I had never heard of a 18cm one.
I am in contact with the seller who asked me to send a photo that shows the measurement.

I've never had issues when i buy directly from a compnay online but will avoid ebay in future.

My job is varied and today i supported someone to adopt a hamster from the adoption tank of a well known petshop.
The hamster was described and sold as a female Syrian with a girlie name.

Hamster is longhaired and very friendly so climbed up new mum's arm with me happily watching. Oh well, this girl had balls and i have no idea how anybody could have mistaken this boy for a girl!

It makes me wonder if petshops actually give hamsters they take in a health check like they say they do.

I am suspicious of that myself. I also wonder if they make up a 'rescue story' about the hamster.

It is lovely the hamster has found a loving home and thankfully you were able to tell the person the hamster is male.
