Rodney has been out for well over an hour tonight. I put him back a couple of times but he wanted out again.
He's been to the shop twice and was full of mischief tonight. I had to stop him twice from going behind the fridge and then he tried to tackle the dishwasher.
I know what bothered him. I had closed the hall door to keep the fireworks noise out but he wasn't happy about it and kept jumping up the door.
In the end i opened the door and he climbed in and out of shoes for a while.
And then he came back to me and climbed up my legs to get carried back to his cage.
His mission was complete and now he's back in his nest.

Glad to see Rodney out and about exploring. But you have to keep a beady eye on him!

He made his feelings clear when things weren’t to his liking! Funny how they like going in and out of shoes.
Tucked up safely now and can hide from the bangs. Noisy here too.

He sounds so much fun to watch and follow about. He had a real adventure today.

Rodney's starting to look a bit fuller, rounder and Rory's going the opposite way and looks smaller, scrawny.
Rodney has perked up lately and loves his evening stroll but Rory hasn't wanted to come out lately. He seems to manage a lot better in his bungalow though.

Rodney just managed to climb a stair and now he's trying for another!

He's going to tire himself out. He's jumped off now and is running around in the lounge.

It's almost like he sometimes remembers that he used to run around upstairs.

Aw clever Rodney! I tried Raffy on the stairs a couple of times but he just stayed on the one step and seemed a bit nervous about climbing down. But our stairs are quite steep. He did climb down one stair eventually but not up any. Might try him again!

Rodney is up to his old tricks again.

He just climbed onto a shoe rack shelf via some boots and purposely jumped off it!

There was a big blanket in a heap underneath it which he knew was there. I had put it there to stop him from stripping the wallpaper!

It was almost like he was saying, ok, if i'm not allowed to strip the wallpaper, i'm jumping off the shoe rack instead.

I wouldn't put it past him.

Lol. Naughty Rodney.

That's it. I've just lifted him out of a plant pot so he's back in his cage now. He doesn't try to eat a plant, he tries to chew through the stem.
Funny how hamsters don't chew sticks and chews meant for them, aside from a whimzee, but as soon as they are near something they're not allowed to chew, they'll go for it.

That's a hamster for you - contrary!

They sell so many hamster chew toys but Orko ignores all apart from whimzes which are meant for dogs.:cautious:

Ha! I never thought of that but that is so very true. So they are still chewing something not meant for them!

The only other thing some like to chew is cardboard. It must have something to do with taste.

Something I have noticed is most small animals love to chew cardboard. Then again, I used to chew it as a child.....

They usually like the Vitakraft cracker chew sticks with food stuck on but I don't like giving those too often as probably not good for their teeth (honey in them).

Rosewood do some that aren't bad for their teeth - some they eat, some they don't. Or they used to - they don't seem to be available any more! I get the tiny friends yippees as well - they all love those! good for teeth too.

I just saw the yipees contain sugar. Did you know that?

I give them the Vitakraft ones but they only like the grape and nut ones. I never get the honey ones anyway.

Didn't know that yippees contain sugar but they all love them. They are a treat and not part of a regular diet.

I think it's a matter of finding a happy middle. I ate a lovely piece of banana cake with chocolate bits today and don't feel guilty about it because i don't eat cake every day.
