Hi, was wondering if anyone has any idea when Rodipet is going to be reopening. I’d planned on getting a few bits for the new cage, then bam. It’s shut. The webpage doesn’t give any info
Thanks

Oh no! I just had a look at their web page. It shows all the amazing innovations and progress they made for hamsters over the years - but maybe it will be a new era and they're just having a refresh. I've linked it below - it appeared in German and google popped up with "translate" so it translated to English but I assume the link, if clicked on, will show in German again - just translate the page. At the bottom you can put your email address to register for updates - I have done this. After submitting my email address it said an activation link would be sent to me - but haven't received anything.

I've always had great faith in Rodipet. For safe and good quality items. And they were one of the few companies that kept shipping to the Uk after Brexit when other German companies wouldn't.

By the way I clicked on the .co.uk site but it just leads you to the German site. See if you can translate it via google and scroll down the page to see ther milestones. They had a project in Syria at one time.

Or google Rodipet and click on tbe .co.uk link and it'll offer you the option to translate the German site.

Here's the top part of the translated page

"Rodipet® – Innovation lives. Shaping the future. Understand animals.

For more than 20 years we have been accompanying animal lovers with high-quality products and genuine passion. We are currently restructuring ourselves – with the aim of securing and developing our brand sustainably.

In this transition period, our online shop is temporarily offline.
Take a look at the most important stages of our innovation journey with us."

If anyone goes to the web page and it's in German then in the web address bar at the far right hand side there's a kind of icon that looks a bit like hieroglyphics! Move your mouse over that and it says "translate". Click on it and it lets you translate the whole page to English.

@Redheaddegu I changed the post title to "temporarily" shut down as that's what it says on the web page. I've also emailed Shauna's pet shop in Ireland that is a Rodipet partner to see if they have any more information :-)

Thank you so much for this. I did the translate bit, so it’s reassuring they are saying they are reopening, they just don’t say when. Which seems odd. I’d have thought they would want to reassure regular customers……… I’ll be interested to know what Shauna’s pet shop say!

She hasn't replied yet. I did look on that site but they only ship within Ireland unfortunately. However they do have Rodipet stuff in stock and are selling it so doesn't suggest much has changed. There's another thread on here with a poll, guessing what Rodipet might be changing!

Yes it did seem a bit out of the blue but then how else could they do it if they want to announce a surprise change. And even if they had a prior notice on the site saying it would be offline in 3 weeks for a while, it would still cause chaos and a rush of people ordering, which maybe they wanted to avoid.

If you're looking for enrichment items for cages, there are a number of other sites that are good also, depending on what you're looking for.

Happy Henry's Homes make nice houses and platforms (I like the cloud platforms - one set slightly taller than the other next to each other) and their multiroom houses.

This place is great for cork logs - you can choose the one you want from the images (all different sizes and shapes), their delivery is usually very quick and the cork logs are always nice and clean.

Hamsters we love has smaller items - hides etc, and has a good selection of sprays and healthy treats :-)

Thank you for this. Funnily enough I have already got a multichamber house from Happy Henry's Homes, and a cork log from The Cork Shed. I'm a bit of a google browser........ I've been searching for European / German pet stores, but it's amazing how few send stuff to the UK post Brexit. I was so upset with the Yes vote, mainly coz it interrupted my supply of quality cat food and Degu supplies from Zooplus. They used to be fantastic, but the range of small animal stuff has really reduced recently! I guess they only stock stuff in their UK warehouse that sells!
I'll check out Hamsters We Love. I've also found a few places on Etsy - Hamster Helper is good - I'm all prepped with my microgreens from them!

I know - I used to use Zooplus a lot and I think many hamster owners did. They stopped shipping to the uk for a long time. They are now shipping some things here but not very much and have out their prices up quite a bit.

Getzoo still ship to the uk. Also mixerama (although postage is high at mixerama).

I was really wanting the hide thing they did at Rodipet. It was a dome with 3 entrances, to put in the substrate so they have a burrow that doesn’t collapse on them. I thought ‘oh, I’ll just get a bit further with the building work, then buy it’. That will teach me! Next time go with the impulse and just buy it 😂😂😂.

I do find it odd that there is no hint as to when they are reopening. I’d have thought that would risk people finding new suppliers.

Oh yes those are really good - you mean the ceramic/terracotta ones? I have the one with one entrance - it has a nice dip on the roof for putting food on :-) I know what you mean - I wait for things and then they're gone! I got one of the last Rodipet wood and cork wheels - I didn't know they were going to stop making them - I was just lucky. I waited and waited for the 30cm ones to come back in stock and in the end got impatient and ordered a 32cm one as it was the only size left in stock. It's huge! But it's a great wheel and our Syrian loved it. Anyway shortly after that they stopped selling them altogether, so I'm really glad I went for the 32cm one. But also frustrated they don't sell them any more. I used to get their 21cm one for robos as well. They were really good wheels!

Actually I think Niteangel do something similar to those rodipet hides. Or they used to - can't see them on amazon any more.

I can’t see anything on the Niteangel U.K. website either. But I’ve subscribed to the Rodipet email updates. Now where is my German-English dictionary……. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The email sign up thing is odd. After I did it, a message comes up saying - an email with an activation link was sent to your email address! Nothing arrived and that was a couple of days ago now! And nothing in junk mail either. I'm wondering if that message is an automatic one from the old website for when you sign up with an account.

I did get an email with an activation link in it, but it arrived hours later, and when I clicked on it, it said my account was already active (I know Apple are being troublesome, but I’m loving their translation service! 😂😂) so I’m hoping for updates! 🤞

Ah interesting - I never did get an activation email. Did you already have an account with them before? Maybe that's why it's already activated. Anyway today I tried signing up again with the forum email instead of my personal email and I do have an activation code. I have no idea what it says until I translate it! 🤣

How odd! I don’t think I had an account with them, as the first time I across them was when I joined here. Unless I found them when I had the degus, about 10 years ago now, and forgot.

Apple you can just select all, double click and select translate. I assume android etc have similar…….. saves reaching for the dictionary :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I don;t know I usually use google translate. If it's a webpage you just click in the little mark on the top right of the browser and it translates it. It sounds very handy to be able to double click to translate!

I just got this reply (translation) after activating email

"All done. You are now registered on our mailing list and will hear from us soon. Thank you for your interest!"

So that sounds fairly positive.

So do you have degus as well (or did you previously)? They are wonderful and fascinating. There's a section on here for other pets :-) Would love to hear about Degus!
