Raffy (Syrian Hamster)

Me too! It blended into the carpet very well as well, as it's patterned. So I will need to do a slug reconnaissance before letting Raffy out in future.

I get the odd slug in my hall & it’s surprising how far those trails go over carpet, they never made it to the living room thankfully!

Glad the vet didn’t think there was too much to be concerned about, hope the phone consult is positive too.

Oh dear Raffy, what have you been up to now? That is no way to treat your mum and put her through all that worry.
No more live snacks on the carpet please!

I just squealed as I thought I saw another slug in the carpet in the same place. But it turned out to just be a bit of pattern in the carpet (that happened to be slug shaped).

Raffy was fine last night :-). He had a long, lazy contented stretch when he got up. However he didn’t get up until I was going to bed and was very tired so missed coming out last night. I gave him a bit of Pip’s baby food instead.

Good to hear Raffy’s fine after his antics with the slug, I’m sure he will have enjoyed the baby food & will probably be full of beans tonight to make up for not coming out.
Has he attacked the flower basket lately?

Not recently. He did one night a week ago. Not attacked perhaps but moved it again.

I have a feeling you will be thinking you see slugs everywhere now!

Aw, so sweet Raffy had some baby food. I bet he loved it. :)

Well it doesn't help that I have new glasses that are not quite right as well! Hopefully that will settle down. Yes Raffy did love the baby food. So much so that he stepped right into it to eat it quickly and got it all over his foot!

Raffy is very good at cleaning his paws so I am sure he will clean that all off.

Here are some out-takes of Raffy and the fabric leaves. I took a LOT of photos - and only the one was half decent. First of all I put the leaf garland on the floor. Raffy ignored it completely and didn't investigate. I tried putting some treats in it but he didn't notice. He was busy doing his thing in his playground under the coffee table.

So then I thought I'd put the garland in his dig box under the coffee table - that didn't quite work either as he doesn't sit still for a minute! Next attempt was the garland and Raffy on the sofa. Again he didn't sit still and kept wandering off. Finally I tried hiding his tube in the garland he just came through it fast then turned and looked at it. But did manage to get the one half decent one for the photo comp!

Aw, I love these pictures. Raffy is so cute. Haha, typical of a hamster to ignore the one thing we want them to investigate. 😂

The next lot

A bit more - either hidden, not looking at the camera or a speedy blur. That's all folks :)

You got some lovely shots there, even if they weren’t all quite what you had in mind, more what Raffy had in mind! I couldn’t even choose a favourite.

Thanks - I didn't think I had :-) They were all out-takes. Although I like the one with paws on the dig box :)

I've been waiting for the call from the vet since 4pm (they said later on in the day) and not heard anything so I phoned them. Apparently the exotic vet had left a note on the file saying, no appointment needed, no worming needed. I asked to speak to the vet anyway (it wasn't the exotic vet) and she explained that they had discussed it and decided lungworm wasn't the same risk in hamsters as it is in dogs, and lungworms probably wouldn't know how to survive in a hamster as it's not it's usual type of host and a different make up. That there's no licensed wormer for hamsters but if he showed signs of becoming unwell they could use one that would work at a hamster sized dose.

So basically they don't think he needs worming, but if I become concerned about him, to take him in and they'll give him something.
