Raffy (Syrian Hamster)

Maybe Raffy thought it was a flying hamster!

I’m not surprised it was like that indoors, being surrounded by solid walls with no obvious way out must really confuse their echo location, I love them flying around me outside but I wouldn’t really want one indoors either.

I love bats too. Especially fruit bats.

I can imagine the bat chasing your OH down the stairs and all the commotion of catching it 🤣
It reminded me of the bat scene out the movie "The Great Outdoors" with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd 🤣

Raffy - this bat is out doing me on causing mischief. I'm going to have to up my game 🤔

Glad Raffy had the sense to keep out of harm’s way under the coffee table! After the commotion no doubt he enjoyed the rest of his free roaming time.

Yes I was a bit worried about OH walking round the room with a fishing net and Raffy being out and it all happened so quickly. But Raffy sensibly stayed under the table and OH could see where he was. I haven't seen that film Frida but it sounds very much like it :) Coco yes Raffy had a bit more time out after all the commotion and roamed a bit and ran on his saucer. He didn't do the file flipping trick last night.

I went to bed earlier than usual last night, so Raffy had to skip a night. He clearly was really not impressed about that. The flower basket has been tossed about again, and his hanging wood and wicker treat thing has been pulled down! He must have pulled it really hard because it has snapped at the top!

How did Raffy manage that 🤣
Does anybody remember that Uri Geller bloke who could bend spoons from a distance? Maybe the combined mental powers of a furious Raffy and spoon man Pip knocked the camera over.

He will literally fly out of the cage door tonight I expect. I do feel mean but can't stay up late every night.

He'll enjoy his out of cage time twice as much tonight.
I usually work overnight twice a week and find that they get up a bit earlier when i'm home after they had a night in.

Raffy was frantic tonight and climbing the cage door to come out as if he had the devil snapping at his heels. I assume he can smell Pip! The frantic wasn't like stress though it was more like - I want attention! Anyway once out he went and sat in the digging box under the table - which was unusual for him, he normally ignores it and there was no food in it - just bits of cardboard. Then he carried on with his usual free roaming. I gave him a pumpkin seed in its shell (got a bag out of the freezer yesterday) and he sat there working at that. He clearly got the pumkin seed out as he left the shell on the floor.

So I had a really nice moment for about 15 minutes with both hamsters out on their wheels. Pip in his cage and Raffy under the coffee table. It feels better having them both back in the living room again. Although I think Raffy's slightly piqued.

He must have been wondering what had been going on & desperate to get out & have a look see!

Ha, that reminds me of Clive when he sees Lilly on the floor.

I think Raffy just needed some reassurance that his world is still the same even though the little one is back.

I think you're both right :) . I caught him on the nightcam doing his "looking for me" and trying to get out! We were sorting bits and pieces out for night time before I let him out and he clearly wanted out NOW!
