Raffy (Syrian Hamster)

Great footage of Raffy, he looks really well and clearly loves his porridge and all the other foods in his home your making me smile with the fitch piles and the way he looks at you when somethings been moved. Hamsters are so knowing.

Thanks Zara. The fitch mountain has got even bigger! And started blocking the wheel again ha ha. I can move it a bit further over again if necessary but ............ and then the coconut would have to be moved somewhere else. I managed to clear it very very slightly so it spins again without him noticing ha ha.

As well as making the fitch mountain even bigger, Raffy decided to push his cage items into a pile in the middle of the cage . I gave up turning the hat step right side up ages ago as his digging underneath kept tipping it over. But now it’s been pushed into the centre of the cage along with the hay tunnel, the cannelloni chew and the hyacinth ball. All piled up together. I wonder why Maybe he’s copying me. Or competing. I moved the wheel and coconut further along the other night so he’s decided to move a few things as well.

The fitch mountain looks much taller in real life - whenever I try and photograph it, it doesn’t capture how piled up it is - the camera doesn’t seem to catch that perspective.

How funny is that. I wonder why it's all the middle?

Perhaps Raffy was demonstrating a tunnelling masterclass to Tino!

Ha ha I know. He always has been slightly quirky! I'm guessing the fitch mountain pushed the hay hide towards the middle, which might have pushed the hay tunnel - but not sure why they other two things are piled together. Maybe he decided they were in the way. Or just copied me moving things Or to show who is boss and who can move things!

Raffy seems to like the warm weather. I think we sometimes forget that hamsters don't like being cold and do like being warm! As long as it's not too hot for them. Last night Raffy was out running on his wheel and looking perky when I went to let him out.

Raffy looked very well indeed. The warm weather probably helps his joints and he enjoyed his time out and about.

His back legs are looking better, they seemed to be able to support more of his weight. Makes me happy to see Raffy out and exploring

Well Raffy really is back to his old self. Instead of sitting under his shelf waiting for me to come and offer him a tube, he was actually chewing at the bars to get my attention last night! I was a bit later than usual

It's so nice to see him still behaving as he did two years ago!
