I have ordered a few supplies ready for a new dwarf hamster.

There are 3 at the rescue that I like the look of. 2 robos and a lovely little russian girl.

I already have a cage. It is 100 x 54 x 35 high.

If anyone knows the Barney cage from zooplus it is like a shorter version of that.

It is just above the 100 X 54cm minimum size for a hamster and ideally would be taller to allow for a good 8 to 10 inches of bedding.

I think you need a Robo  Personally. But the hamster will probably choose you :)

Next bedding. Hamsters love to tunnel.

I got a 70 litre bag of fitch bedding from eBay just under £40.00.

Then the food and little bags of different substrates to add texture and variety.

A carrier. I got a nice big one to double as a place to put the hammy during clean outs also to make travel less stressful as there will be room for lots of bedding to hide in.

Freeze dried tofu for extra protein and a cute little cardboard box that it came in that could be used as a hide.

A few hides and a bag of cork granules that I thought would add interest. Also a couple of wooden shelves that I already had (unused).

The cage is looking a bit less bare. Got some sand in (more coming on Sunday, play sand from argos). Put some aspen in and got a little rectangular dish for the granules or maybe a sand bath.

Added a bit of fitch. Plenty more to go in once I have the wheel and the rest of the sand.

Ooh do you have a photo? :-) I have some from a dolls house tea set but they're not as nice - they're quite thick. Blue, pink and yellow with spots on.

Yes and the lovely Rusty in a photo too :-) He's adorable. I bet he is fascinated with all the goings on. The wheel and water bottle holder do look very nice.
