Hi everyone! I have a Syrian hamster named Pablo, he is about 8 months old and about a week ago I noticed a small bald spot or thinning hair spot on his neck, I’ve been trying all week to get a vet appt, and was supposed to go today but the vet was sick. IMG_4834.webpIMG_4833.webpIMG_4832.webpthe spot hasn’t changed at all and now I’m wondering if it’s even worth rescheduling again, considering he’s acting normal and doesn’t seem to be itchy/irritated. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi. I can't really see it to be honest :-) He's so lovely and furry. Is there anything in his enclosure he could be going under that could be rubbing against the top of his head? They can often get rub wear that can cause patches. How old is he?

He does have some cork tunnels he crawls through, he is 8 months old

Yes I can see now :-) It always seems more noticeable with long haired syrians - is it definitely not just showing because his hair has parted at that point? I would check his cage to see if there's anything that could be rubbing. Eg does he have a house he tunnels under that could be a bit of a squeeze? What size are his tunnels?

Honestly he might just have thinner hair at the neck and I’m overreacting, he does have quite a few hides with differing size openings though

Maybe just keep an eye on things then :-) If it gets any bigger or worse you could see a vet.
