I write poetry and thought I would share this seasonal poem. Hope you like it
Winter
An icy wind wraps her fingers
Around skeletons of branches,
Bare and shivering in the cold,
Leaves behind a hoar frost,
Sparkling and hard as diamonds.
The dark night closes in
Brings flurries of snow and sleet,
Covers rigid, unyielding ground with its blanket.
Earth lies dormant,
Sleeping,
Held in suspension,
Waiting for Spring.
In the belly of home,
A warm fire burns,
A friendly welcome in the hearth,
An invitation to linger and thaw.
Lights of Christmas glow
While mantels, holly and ivy adorned,
Sing of celebration.
Home cooked stew nourishes,
As soft, cosy knits offer a hug.
Home casts its light,
Gently flickering,
Living,
Patiently waiting for Spring.
