I write poetry and thought I would share this seasonal poem. Hope you like it :)

Winter

An icy wind wraps her fingers

Around skeletons of branches,

Bare and shivering in the cold,

Leaves behind a hoar frost,

Sparkling and hard as diamonds.

The dark night closes in

Brings flurries of snow and sleet,

Covers rigid, unyielding ground with its blanket.

Earth lies dormant,

Sleeping,

Held in suspension,

Waiting for Spring.

In the belly of home,

A warm fire burns,

A friendly welcome in the hearth,

An invitation to linger and thaw.

Lights of Christmas glow

While mantels, holly and ivy adorned,

Sing of celebration.

Home cooked stew nourishes,

As soft, cosy knits offer a hug.

Home casts its light,

Gently flickering,

Living,

Patiently waiting for Spring.

That's lovely :-) And very clever. Do you belong to a poetry group at all?

No, I don’t. I’ve only really been writing for the past year.

I also like poetry. I write notes to my parents all the time :)

Another seasonal offering…

Spring

Awaken from your slumber,

And rub your bleary eyes,

Emerge from the darkness of Winter

Into the fresh, soft sunshine of Spring,

Stretch limbs, weary and cramped from the confines of hibernation.

Tend the garden of your heart,

Prune back the old and overgrown,

Feed and cultivate the ground,

And plant seeds with hope for tomorrow.

See with new eyes,

The blossoming, burgeoning, breaking forth,

The opening of buds, first tight,

Then unfurling and basking in the gentle warmth of Spring.

Build your nest,

Extend your tent,

Test your wings

And prepare, beloved, to fly.

It's lovely! Very positive and beautiful images and ideas.

You have inspired me to create a thread for anyone who wants to share their poetry!

Oh, well I read this a little to late! Well, on there, I'm going to have a poll running on best poem

A Climb for Wind 🍃
By Hammie Heart

As thy climbs a tree,
She seeks to feel the breeze,
She feels free.

Thy reaches the top,
And sees the nearest shop,
She feels free.

The wind blows through her hair,
Go down, she'd never dare,
She feels free.

Thy enjoys the nature round' her,
And she sees a larkspur,
She feels free.

Oh and this one was made a 2am. :ROFLMAO: Couldn't sleep.

The Ocean's Beautiful Grace🌊
Hammie Heart

A wave sweeps ashore,
The sun glistens upon the water,
This is nature's pretty core,
And out far is an otter.

A white shell,
Where hermit crabs dwell,
A seagull flies over your head,
And toward the ocean's bed.

The sun sets over the horizon,
Pretty rays of gold and pink,
And your spirits liven,
And your Pina Coladas clink.

A soft mist sprays,
Where you lay,
A scene surrounding you,
Beautiful and blue.

Hope you like it :)

It’s lovely 😊

I’m really excited to tell you that my poem ‘The Call of the Sea’ has been selected for publication in the Earth Pathways Diary for 2025 🤩

The call of the sea

I must go down to the sea again,
Drawn by the wild, uncivilised call
Of tumbling, crashing waves,
Sweeping on to the shore,
Unrestrained
By convention or cares,
Finding their way,
Unhindered,
Untrained,
Gentle roar of lacy, white surf
Over rattling pebbles smoothed by time,
Raucous cry of gulls
Wheeling above
In granite, cloud covered skies,
The pull of moon on tide,
Creating rhythms
Timeless,
Natural, unbidden,
Unshackled from the clock,
Untamed by rule or control,
Washing clean
Sand and shore
Of detritus from the day.
This is the call
Which resounds
Deep as the ocean,
Wide as the blue,
Beckoning my soul,
Captivating my mind,
Seducing my heart,
To live as the sea
Wild and free.
