Playpen time for a not very social hamster

2 or 3 times a week is about what we are managing with Blossom. I was feeling bad that it wasn’t every day! But she seems to be happy enough anyway

Well I think it doesn't have to be everyday, as long as she is happy everything is good

Hi and welcome, Taro is beautiful our male Syrian become more confident around us at about 6 -7 months. This is when we started using our playpen, full of cereal/tissue boxes, and a shoebox hide, an extra wheel, some tubes and a dig box. He enjoyed looking for the extra treats we hid and then similarly would keep looking up as if to say I’ll go back now please.

Over time though he became more relaxed and we would sit and stroke him for longer and longer. It’s super cute Taro comes out when you’re calling him and picks up his treats, they are all so different and individual but sounds like your doing well, I’d just keep following his lead and hopefully in time he’ll interact more and more.

A small trail of tiny poppy seeds the odd meal worm in a hide and a couple of pine nuts maybe on his wheel will spark interest in his playpen then hopefully he will see it as a place where he always finds a few goodies and get brave enough to take something offered from your fingers
