IMG_4840.webpi’m pretty new to hamsters and by pretty new I mean completely new we got this Robo juvenile yesterday for my daughter who is too which basically means I have a new hamster since I will be the one taking care of it and she will probably lose interest within the next 24 hours lol I’m basically here to get any and all advice I can. I understand that the wire cage is an ideal so I plan on moving her to an acrylic one as soon as I can. Any advice you have is completely welcome and especially any mistakes that beginners make so you know things I know not to do thank you in advance so far I’m loving being a hamster Mom ha ha this is Bijou btw lol

Welcome to the forum 🌺 Bijou looks absolutely adorable 😍
You will find lots of interesting things and many tips and advice here. The people are so helpful and friendly. I was also a new hamster mum in March, and very insecure about what is right, what to feed and how to handle my hamster. I received so much advice and help. 🙏🌺
Maybe you read a bit in the various sections and you will lots of your questions answered. Enjoy reading and I hope we see lots more fotos of your gorgeous little hamster ☺️

Bijou is so cute 🥰 Congratulations on becoming a hamster mum. Which acrylic cage are you getting? A lot of forum members have Bucatstat cages so can tell you how they find them ❤️

Welcome to the forum Bijou, this is such a friendly and informative place to ask any questions you might have about your hammy. Looking forward to seeing more of Bijou, such a pretty face! 🤗🐶💖💕🐹 Ness

Gorgeous robo :-) I know what you mean - our first hamster was for our 6 year old and I ended up doing everything - and the hamster became my baby :-) I fell in love with him.

Barred cages can be ok for a robo - if they are big enough and if the bar spacing is narrow enough. Which country are you in and we can recommend some barred and solid sided enclosures :-) Bijou will be fine for now, providing the bar spacing isn't too large, as they need a couple of weeks to settle into their new home anyway. Bar spacing should be no more than 1cm.

Well done for becoming a hamster mum. I'm a hamster dad. There's lots to do on here. One of which is entering the monthly photo competition. Here's a couple of photos of my hammy and her cage.
