I came across this perspex tank on Amazon. It's a similar style to a Bucatstate, with a different kind of roof, but about half the price! I wondered if it was strong enough to hold bedding in but the reviews of it sound positive!

It's called the Vevor Hamster cage - dimensions are about 96cm x 47cm wide x 55 cm high. And it's £111.59. I actually prefer the look of the roof to the Bucatstate, as it has more ventilation. It doesn't say what the bar spacing on the roof is but it looks about 1cm (I would like to find out though!).

It is interesting. It seems to basically be a Bucatstat. Some people report receiving cracked panels, but I think if you check it carefully on arrival, you can claim a return and refund / resend another cage from Amazon 🏡

Hey, I'd be careful with Vevor. Of course everyone's experience is different, but my girls current cage is a different model from Vevor and she chewed out of it twice. I've spent as much on repairing it as I did on buying it!! 🫨

Which is the different model you have from Vevor? This one does seem to be metal and perspex so maybe not so easy to chew out of?

It was this one, though I see it's currently unavailable which is good. I gave it an absolute scathing review!

And it looks so nice as well! I'm sorry you had that experience. Was the wood very thin? I think the frustrating thing about the perspex version, is that they have made it slightly under the 100 x 50cm norm. Although I think it's close enough.

Yeh I thought it was going to be a lovely cage as the picture looked really nice. I was very happy to be upgrading.

The wood was very thin though. I did think it was a bit flimsy when putting it together (it was flat pack) but assumed that it must be ok.. I thought surely no one would sell a cage that wasn't fit for purpose. But unfortunately it was easily chewed through within a week or so. It was very disappointing.

It is very disappointing. I have to say though, it is an issue with other wood cages as well - if the hamster is a chewy hamster! Pawhuts are notorious for it and often have to be tiled or strengthened. I think the perspex one looks more chewproof!

That's good, I fixed Winnie's cage with a perspex type material. So far it's been working well, and I'd recommend it as a material. It's definitely resisting Winnie's chewing very well now.

Also, I'd recommend Omelette. I had a smaller, (nowadays non-compliant), cage from them years ago and it was excellent. When it's time for me to get a new cage I will go back to them to get their new bigger one.

I just chose this one cuz I really wanted the cage to be pretty! 😂

A large sized chew toy for some hamsters 🙁

Socks lives in an Omlet cage. It's OK, but a little bit small. There is the option of joining two cages together using tunnels, depending on how tolerant both you and your hamster are of tunnels.
