Oh no - keep an eye on it. I assume you freeze the food? What I have found since freezing the food, is that if I have started with moths, they have been those type - the carpet or clothes moths - and not the pantry moths. And maybe only one or two and I've been able to nip it in the bud. It's the pantry moths that breed fast and get into your kitchen cupboards! They are dark and sort of long - they look different.

Suggests to me that freezing kills some types of moth eggs better than others!

Apparently predicted to be 30 degrees here next week .........

Yes I do, and I keep all of his food in glass containers or ziplock bags. I looked thoroughly but couldn’t find anymore or anything suspicious. I changed his bedding and the old hoard which was mainly empty shells ect.
I am sorry to hear that you are getting the heatwave too.
My friend from Derby texted me and said the new forecast is now 33 degrees! I am done with this humid heat
I hope the moth was just the one I saw flying yesterday (couldn’t catch it). I suppose having the doors and windows open all night is inviting them in but I will watch carefully.

I am running around with my short pj shorts and a top it’s still 24 degrees in here, Nibbles looked at me as if to say: you are clever mum you have taken your fur off!

It’s still very warm, Nibbles wasn’t so keen on running in his wheel tonight he sat towards the cool breeze coming through the open balcony door. But when I took him to bed he wasn’t really tired, so I closed the kitchen door and let him have a free roam. He loved the cold tiles I was lying on them too. He climbed over me and was zooming around the kitchen. Then he climbed back into his cage to have a drink of water and came to the door waiting for my hand. I let him out for another half an hour. Now I have a happy cooled hamster

I just found four moths in the bedroom upstairs tonight! Suspicious as they were all sitting together on the same wall. Our staircase is open from the living room so it seems they came upstairs. I really hope that's it now! All squashed.

They are such a nuisance
I think this year it’s bad with moths, tics ect

After spending several hours in the chat i have got the money back (via Klarna) for the Bucatstate! It’s lost after passing the customs office
Now I have ordered one at Amazon (40,- Euro more expensive) and it’s due to arrive on Wednesday
TEMU were very kind, they tried there best but the cage is nowhere to be found. I guess some child or wife of a warehouse worker will be pleased when they get their new Bucastate cage

TEMU just contacted me they have already sent a refund but if the cage does turn up, I can keep it for free as an apology for waiting so long. That is very kind. I will look to see if I can give it away as a gift if it does arrive, to someone who maybe can’t afford it (young girl for example)

No actually they did everything right, it got lost after it left the German customs office

That has happened to me before ordering from germany - most things got here quickly but occasionally something would sit in customs and then never arrive at all. Made me think German customs were keeping things for themselves!

Yes I have heard this today that it happens quite frequently

There is a mountain of paperwork, in triplicate these days and if it's not just right I think things get stuck.

The delivery service told me these Bucatstate items seem to go missing frequently. They are shipped in their original package so you can see what’s in the box.

I am dreading Saturday 35 degrees that means it will be at least 30-32 inside. What shall I do? I am thinking of putting the old cage in the cellar. I will measure the temperature down there and maybe put his old house with paper bedding wood shavings (i still have two bags). Just until the weather cools down? Maz what do you think?! how awful
Its dark down there though as there is no window but ventilation is there. I will upload a foto tomorrow
