Meet my robos

Whereabouts was the lump that was removed, if you don't mind me asking? These little fit episodes might be a post-op reaction to anaesthetic and settle down hopefully. For a few days after anaesthetic, they can't regulate temperature normally so important to keep the room warm for a few days - which you probably already know :-) Get well soon little Bobby.

Not good at the vets guys , he's been biting himself and caused an abscess. That emergency vet shouldn't have told me to stop that medication. My vet said that's probably why he was biting.

Oh and you asked about his meds before , sorry , forgot. He's on trimoxazole rheumocam and the extra one is bupravet. Thanks for the info above that's very helpful. Xx

Oh wow, this must be quite scary for you. I really you and Bobby are ok, and that he gets better. Sending all my love and luck 🍀 ❤️ Jellybean also sends him his love through ultrasonic calls 🐹

It’s one of those things where you just don’t know. I’m guessing you have gone to two different vets and they have both said different things?

Trimoxazole is the antibiotic, rheumacam is the same medication as metacam or loxicom - the only difference between them is that some have different additives or preservatives. I can't see he'd have a problem with either of those but personally I try and get metacam or loxicom as rheumacam does have a couple of extra additives/preservatives I think, but most hamsters seem fine with it.

Bupravet I haven't heard of - I looked it up and it says it's an opioid pain relief for post-op analgesia. I could well be that if it's just too much medication load. However yes, biting at a wound usually means they have pain.

All I can suggest is getting the dose of metacam checked to make sure it's not too low to give the pain relief. But it's usually only about 0.01 or 0.02 mls for a robo but depends on their weight. So is he back on the Bupravet as well now?

So sorry you and Bobby are having this.

Yes back on all meds now. Just have to see how he goes.

Wishing Bobby a speedy recovery. It did sound like he needed that extra pain relief. It could have been a post anaesthetic reaction then. Fingers crossed.

Wishing Bobby a speedy recovery 🙏 I do hope that he responds to his meds better and starts to make a recovery 😊 you've all been through so much! Teddy and I send love and virtual hugs 🤗 I hope things get better each day🥰💕 Ness and Teddy

They have such small bodies (especially robos) so it could be anything. Wishing you and Bobby a recovery as fast as a robo runs 🌹❤️

Hi, is Bobby ok? Any good/bad progress? How is he?
Thanks for asking , he is sleeping a lot , which will do him good. And getting his meds regularly. Next check up at vets is Monday. I'm hoping he's not biting , it's hard to tell as he already has a wound from it. I'll see what the vet thinks Monday. He's up at mo I just gave him fresh veg so he's munching on that.

I am so sorry. He needs to go back to the vet - they might need to stitch him up again. 🌹 Poor Bobby. And upsetting for you. Is he still on the antibiotics? Because I would think he'd need to continue on them until he has healed up as the wound will be a route for infection.

Hes only got his rheumocam left now , and his F10 cream , as his other meds ran out today. It's not an open wound , and he has an appointment on Monday. There wouldnt be anything else they would say to do. I will check it again tomorrow.
