It’s official folks, I’ve chosen my hamster from the breeder. Meet Gael!
She’s a tortoiseshell short-haired Syrian hammy, currently nineteen days old. She’ll be coming home on Halloween or November first.

I’m still a little on the fence about the spelling of her name. It’s Hebrew in origin, being a derivative of Abigail (father’s joy, joyous father) (I am the joyous father in question), with ‘gail’ specifically being the word for joy. Which she is. Look at that face. Look at the yellow little specks. Absolutely gorgeous.
Spellings include:
- Gael
- Gail
- Gayle
- Gaela
- Gaila
- Gayla
I’m trying to stay away from tragedeighs, so feel free to leave your input.
