Hey forum, I'm here because it's hard af to find an active hamster forum that is not Reddit. I have a 2.5 to 3 yr old long haired Syrian named Wetha (if you know who he is named after, you're amazing!). I got him in Feb 24 from a family whose 10 yr old got bored and Mom felt like he was too much work. He was in a five gallon tank. I moved to him to a 40g breeder and he currently lives in a 75g. Wetha is a strange hamster because he doesn't burrow. He has dug holes and buried himself in them a handful of times but otherwise, no burrowing! He has a Niteangel burrow starter that he claims as his home. I recently noticed he has a cataract in one eye!

Previous hamsters -
Pineapple, who lived to 3 years and was adopted from a shelter. His family lived in a hotel and let their cats chase him in a hamster ball. The shelter presented him to me in one of those small Kaytee cages that smelled like urine and he stress chewed. He was super friendly and the best hamster I've ever had.

Speedor, a robo from a shelter who was supposedly picked up as a stray (yes his name is from Engine Sentai Go-Onger)

Rubedo, a red eyed 'dwarf' from a Petsmart I used to work at. He had beautiful, shiny red eyes and grey fur.

Spencer, my first hamster that I adopted from a shelter. He was around two years old when adopted and only lived a couple months after I got him. Another friendly and gentle hamster.

Hello and welcome 😊. Wetha is such a grand age (will admit I’m not sure what the name is from!). I think some male Syrians are a bit lazy about digging burrows 😂. Or it might be his age and he’s just taking an easier route.

Welcome to the forum ❤ We'd love some pictures if you have any 😍 Go on, tell us where you got his name, it's a nice name! You have had lots of hamsters of all kinds ❤
