nail issue! All of a sudden I noticed our little dwarfs nails are SUPER long. He's getting caught on our shirts, rugs and even his fold out enrichment pen sometimes. I've read to put more natural stones in cage but just the one or 2 is not making difference! I called our local exotic vet but they don't do nail trims as they feel it stresses them out. Anything else I can put in enclosure to help? I would try to cut them myself but he's so tiny and def not "chill" enough for me to hold and do! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think burrowing in a substrate like bark might help. Perhaps hiding some treats in a small box of bark pieces for reptiles could give him an opportunity to wear down his claws. I agree that trying to cut them might be really difficult. Scruffing hamsters is thought best avoided in case it causes eye injuries from the skin tension. Perhaps a large cork log might also create enough friction to wear nails, while still being quite good fun.
