Hi everyone! So, our Syrian, Cinnamon, did end up taking to a litter tray, but I have two issues with our litter tray currently. 1) It is a hair larger than I would like. It is plastic and I have to sort of jam it into the chamber of his hideaway that he uses so that I can get the hideaway lid back on. I don't know that this bothers him though (just me
) He routinely uses it and I clean it out every few days- change out the damp sand and bedding that I layer in the tray. He clearly uses the area to chew his whimzees and sometimes a hard nut, as I find them there- separate from his hoard.
2) After a long time, plastic that is a little softer, like the litter of tray, just doesn't clean out as well.
Based on the above, I'm tempted to order a Rodipet ceramic litter tray. I haven't found a US-based company that is selling ceramic litter trays, but I could have it shipped still and just pay extra. I like the idea of ceramic but I am also a little hesitant about how he might react to a different type of litter tray- especially if it's a hair smaller. Does anyone have experience with this? I think I might also have to put dowels on it to make sure that it is stable since ceramic would be heavier than the plastic. Currently the tray lays on the top layer of his hideaway bedding (hideaway is raised so there is about 7 inches of bedding under it) and he digs down to the bottom of his cage in the chamber next door to hoard his food and sleep slightly lower, so I would be a bit cautious it was heavier since it is adjacent to where he sleeps.
Thoughts on any of the above?
