Thanks Elusive. Would you say it's turquoisy then? I liked the idea of a light blue but am not a fan of turquoise. Do you have a photo?

Sky blue with the yellow silent runner should give you an idea, it does probably look a bit duller in the photo due to the light.

Cage decoration has taken over a bit but thinking of you & Lilly today Beryl, hope all goes well.

Yes good luck with Lilly today.

I’ve never been sure about whether that’s ok or not so have always stuck to plastikote. It may be safe in terms of emissions for babies but wonder if it is safe if chewed. At one time I wouldn’t even use plastikote. But it’s been tried and tested for a long time.

I’m still quite cautious about paints unless it says pet safe.

Edit - actually Little Knights do claim it is pet safe. They say toy safe = pet safe. Is it wipe clean and waterproof as well?
The gloss paint should be very waterproof.

In practice, anything safe for babies is safe for hamsters as there are very high safety standards for baby products and a paint will be formulated with non-toxic ingredients with the assumption that babies may ingest some of it when dried.

I took Lilly to the vet earlier today. Of course the procedure is high risk in someone so small but i know that this excellent vet will try her best.
She'll also take a blood sample while Lilly is under. Should the lump grow back or appear elsewhere Lilly will be kept comfortable for as long as possible without any further invasive procedures. The vet advised that and reflected my own way of thinking.

Assume she will be there most of the day and they will phone you when she's ready to collect?

I was given a time slot for 15.45 but they'd phone if anything changes.

It must be hard waiting, I do hope this surgery is the end of it & Lilly will be well but if something else does come up then that’s the very best you can do for her.

I had an update earlier to let me know that Lilly came through the surgery.

The waiting is hard even for a tough old boot like me.

The waiting is very tough and nerve wracking :-) That is great news.

That's great to hear! The waiting must have been agonising.

Quick update as i'm very busy at the moment.
Lilly's surgery went according to plan and she seems to be doing ok but still early days.
She's still on baytril and loxicom. Spoke to nurse today and have check up appt with vet on Monday. I'll get more info then.

Good to know it went well, hope she recovers quickly
