Aw! She is having a good look for it! Did she find it?

Sorry I posted at the same time as your second video! She did find it! And she's making a racket ha ha. She seems to be enjoying energetically digging in there.

Poor little Lilly asked to come out yesterday just as i was leaving for work.
When that happens she always makes sure that she's first one out the next day.
Not that anybody else is awake this time of the day.

I wonder if the other hamsters in the room can hear Lilly when she's out and about at this time.
I can imagine the other hamsters saying "bloody hell Lilly some of us are trying to sleep". 🤣

Funny you say that because Otto did get up briefly, climbed on his shelf, looked out and went back to bed probably thinking 'it's that blasted dwarf again'.

That is so clever. I bet she has a calendar and marks off times everybody wants to come off.

Yes it does sound like Lilly is the boss of the hamster house :-)

Lilly reminds me so much of my gerbil who coincidentally was called Lily! She loved to be out of the cage. Once I let her out in the early morning as a one off but she didn't understand "one offs" so every morning for the next couple of weeks she'd be rattling the cage door demanding to come out again.

She really didn't like it when any other animal was out either. She would sit at the top of the cage and watch them like a hawk.

Glad that Lilly found her dig box. She is a smart cookie to work that one out quickly and then get on with the important job of digging.

I have noticed a difference in Lilly's behaviour the last few days. She's sleeping more but i put it down to the heat. I've also noticed a thinning of her fur under her chin but have seen that on other dwarf hamsters before so decided to observe and check her underside more often.

Just now i have noticed a pea sized, red growth that came up very quickly so i'm suspecting an abcess.
I was lucky to get an appt today at 18.00 with my regular vet.

All i can do now is hope that it is an abcess that's treatable with antibiotics and not something more sinister.

I was thinking the other day that Lilly is approaching the age where health issues with all my previous, female dwarf hybrids started.

Poor Lilly. I know you will let us know how it goes with the vet. Fingers crossed

It’s sad to think of Lilly showing the signs of age now, I really hope it is an abscess you found, something that will respond well to treatment.

Lilly is not old enough to show signs of ageing. She's only 13 months if the age i was given was accurate. It just that they all started to show signs of serious illnesses like cancer while they were still relatively young. The result of interbreeding and poor genetics, no doubt.

I wish little Lilly all the best at the vets. I will be thinking of you both.

I hope it’s nothing serious. Good you could get a vet appointment so quickly.
