Huh! Now Lilly is in a strop. I gave her the chicken earlier which she came downstairs for. The boys were still out so i caught them and put them back home to get Lilly out.

When i went back for Lilly the rug in front of her cage was strewn with substrate she had kicked out! She must have thrown a tantrum because she had to wait.

No sign of Lilly so i called her and she came out of her bedroom upstairs, looked at me and went straight back in!

Oh my gosh! By her doing that she has missed out on going out for her free roaming time. :ROFLMAO: Poor you Beryl. You really are in the dog house.

I vacuumed the rug earlier, scooped debris out of Lilly's sand and left her a new millet.

And what does she do? Chucks the sand out.

She's a real little digger! I think it's funny that they sometimes wonder where the sand/substrate has gone after kicking it behind them :-) Raffy used to dig a lot between his old house and his wheel and kick the substrate out behind him (it would pile up against his house and the bars. Then look at me in horror as if I had put that substrate there and blocked him in! Then dig it all out again because it was in the wrong place.

Haha, yes Lilly's sand was back in the jarthis morning and the rug strewn with aspen again.
She was at her door when i woke up and has been freeroaming for the last half hour.

I gave her a tiny bit of porridge and she had a taste but doesn't seem to be her thing.
Lilly was more interested in the dig box where she is now. She also run on the wheels, went into the playbin and sat on my hand so it's not all about foraging today.

Ah yes I can get a better idea of her size now. Small but mighty!

I moved Lilly in the bedroom after losing Scottie.
I can keep an eye on her tubes now to make sure they are clean but she only runs through them as intended.
That's the connecting hole from cage to loft i tried to explain. The carrot house is on a shelf with a cork piece step and she climbs up and down.

I wish Lilly could talk so we would know what she is thinking. I fear it may be full of swearing though...

I realized this morning that by moving furniture i could accommodate a bigger cage for Lilly!
Now i'm looking for a 100cm barred cage and the Plaza is the obvious one but i'm not rushing out to get one before considering other options.
There are always lots of good second hand ones available here in the South as well.
Tanks or pawhuts are not an option for me (currently available in the small ads). A top door isn't needed because she'd still have her loft and i could add one myself anyway.

I also want to change Lilly's wheel from the MouseBro to the 9in Silent Runner i have two of. I've ordered cage attachments. She's been running on one in the playground so it will have her scent.

I've learnt that Lilly is a digger more than a burrower and likes texture. She loves digging in the beech chips and her loft where she digs a lot is aspen.

Once i find a suitable cage and add acrylic panels (if needed) i'll stick to a similar set up. I'd better order a couple of 28cm corner shelves.

Been thinking about cages and keep coming back to the Plaza. It's the only 100cm cage with a big front door i can think of.

I can’t think of any others that are available now that size with the big front door, I’m sure you can make creative use of the extra height with the plaza too.

Quite easily because Maz has done such a fantastic job with Pip's Plaza so i can steal her ideas and don't need to think myself. 🙂
