Hi meet my new hamster, Kuy.
Kuy will be introduced later, he still on adaptation phase. For the first time he is quite confident, he isn't scared with my hand or my voice.

He truly adapt well with loud noise, i worried if loud noise will disturb his sleep but seems he doesnt care about that. Kuy have a multichamber, but he come in from below of bedding. He is digging some hole to enter the chamber rather than come in from the chamber door.

Maybe i will share my personal opinion about Tafit L Shape chamber later.

What colour is Kuy? I Googled the Tafit Chamber, it looks very cute and comfortable. It's great to hear that he is confident! Does his name have an English translation?

That's great news :-) I assume it's pronounced like Guy or Kai? :)

Congrats on the new hamster, looking forward to seeing him when he arrives

Hi all, Thanks for all welcoming words ❤️

Kuy is an indonesian slang words for Let's Go. A lot teenagers here uses that words and it become the first thing in my mind when come to naming.

He have Dumbo appreance (Sable), however the personality seems like Tako, he love plays wheel.

Before picked up Kuy, i made a lot changes. The cage is moved to the living room near the window. I tried to make sure the cage got nature sunlight only in the morning and more air flows.

Tafit MCH is quite good, the product really polished well. However i dont know if all product would be the same as mine. When come to assembling, several part is quite on loose. The hole for locking each part doesn't work well, except this all seems quite good enough for me.

He’s gorgeous :)

I like his name! It suits him as he is so active!

Thank you! It sounds like Quee or Kwee :-)

As usual, i found some mess especially his multichamber house. he doesn't enter it from the front hole, he digging a hole under the multichamber which is make the multichamber lose the balance. I will add more bedding later look like he love to burrow.

Hamsters do love to make things their own and make a mess :-) It sounds like he's being a normal hamster and enjoying his enclosure! Which is a good sign. If the house is starting to subside, you may need to have it supported underneath with some legs. But on the other hand it would be a shame to disturb him so soon when he's just settling in. If it's manageable.

Yeah i do need some legs i think, i wonder if tafit have it. The multichamber is slope as pisa tower. I do feel bad about him, however it will sink as soon as possible 🤣

True, he is a strong fellow. He could moved a cooling pad and what shock me, he can lift the platform in the first time even just a bit.

Maybe i bought a body builder hamster

If they tunnel under the houses, they do sink 😊

You don’t need to buy legs - you can just glue dowels on as legs. I bought pine or beech 8mm round dowels on Amazon - 30cm long and you just cut them to the length you want (they are very easy to cut even with a tiny saw) but you would need a saw of some kind to cut them. Then glue the dowels to the front outside of the house (and sides).

So you work out how long you want the legs (eg the current depth of substrate under the house) - say 20m. Then you add on the height of the house (just under the full height to under where the roof sits). So if the house is 9cm high up to the height of the underneath of the roof then the dowels need to be 29cm long - and 9cm of that is glued to the outside wall of the house - which gives it a secure fixing. So if you had the substrate 21cm deep and 30 cm dowels, there would be no need to cut them 😊

The downside to that is it’s not as quick as just taking the hamster out while you slot pre made legs on. You would need to take the house out and maybe allow 12 to 24 hours for the glue to set - so you’d need to pop a temporary house in the same place (maybe a shoebox house).
