Jas, the hamster formally known as Jasper

Self-raising flour contains a raising agent so I would avoid that.

We just let Jas out and she snuggled into my OH and then stopped for a wash, I think we might be making progress, that's a sign that she is getting comfortable, isn't it?

I thought you might like a Jas update.
So, my OH is away at the moment and I think Jas knows. On the day, she came out in the morning, she never does that, stopped for stroke and went back to bed.
Since then she's been a little quieter, so far anyway. In the playpen she is coming up to my hand, sniffing it and then going under it. She is also stopping for a lot of strokes. Don't know if she knows she is helping me, but it is 😊

I think Jas is reassuring you while your OH is away. That is so precious.😍

I’m sure Jas knows, hamsters can be so sensitive & she wants you to know she’s there for you.

I am sure she knows too. They can sense these things. She is lovely company for you.

It was strange when she came out in the morning, my OH said goodbye to the cage and 30 seconds later, she was out. My OH even said to me, did you open the cage and wake her? She was very sweet at that time as well, as we don't usually see it, big Hammy stretches

Just shows what a strong bond the three of you have. I'm sure she knows and can sense that you are missing your OH.

Jas was very good today. I needed to do a bit of a clean, I've been trying to do a little every couple of days, but it's not easy to get everywhere. I made up her previous cage, but it was only for about twenty mins and I did put some of her substrate in, so it wasn't all new. I had to put her Trixie wheel in, as it's the only other one I have big enough, but it doesn't work very well in there, but she did try. She was so good, did some exploring, checked out her cardboard house, had a sandbath. I think she was happy to get back to her home though, even though she did seem a bit confused. I was worried about putting her in there as I know she wasn't happy there, but I think she was okay. It wasn't for long. If she gets up again, I'll give her more playtime and then straight back to her house, so she knows it is only a temp thing.

Aw she sounds like she was a very good girl.

That was a very good idea to put Jas there while you cleaned her cage as it ensured she was safe and you were able to concentrate on the cleaning.

I'm sure you would all agree, I worry a lot and I was thinking about it for a while. Usually my OH just watches her, but that's not possible at the moment and she really doesn't like the travel container, so I thought it might be a good idea. I'm really pleased it didn't stress her out ☺️

I think we all worry a lot with a hamster :-) Especially the first one.

I can understand that. I would be nervous to do things like that if my OH was away. You are doing a wonderful job of caring for Jas. :)

Aaw, you are very sensitive towards Jas's wellbeing which is lovely.
I'm sure that Jas was fine in the temporay cage.

She seemed happy enough to come out for more playtime. Not the best picture, but out of five the only one that wasn't blurry🤣
