Is this safe for hamsters ?

Yes, there is no onion or spice in it. I hope Luna enjoys it, lovely girl 🥰

Luna doesn't seem that well sadly, she's 1 years old and 10 months now. She's doing a funny noise like respiratory issue. Same noise when they sniff so trying to get a vet appointment tomorrow.

Poor girl and poor you. Polo my guinea pig has been on antibiotics for a suspected URI. When they are needed antibiotics work wonders. I hope you can get to the vet tomorrow. I hope Luna gets better soon. Takes care of yourself too, this is a time of year when everything is difficult 🙏❤️

This is a video of my partner holding her and she started doing these noises last night.

Deleting the video afterwards as it's not nice seeing your pet like that, she's still drinking and eating. No vets appointments today, I'm going tomorrow I hope she'll be okay until then :( I'm worried about my fluffy friend:(

She should be OK, but starting treatment tomorrow is a good thing. The vet will be able to tell you what is wrong. To me she sounds clicky and hoarse, but I'm not qualified in any way. As you say, Luna is still very active. She is gorgeous 🥰 Good luck at the vet's tomorrow 🙏❤️

Those sound like chirupping noises. One of mine did that once after something upset and scared him. It could be she’s upset about something - or something isn’t quite right for her. Sometimes it’s when they are annoyed or happy as well. Could you hear a breathing sound as well? She looks quite well. I hope the vet can help.

When it happened with me it was when Alexa went off in the middle of the night and said there was someone at the door. I was alarmed and while downstairs , called up loudly to OH and we were calling each other and maybe sounded panicky. Raffy then started to make this noise - I had him out for ages and couldn’t settle him or get it to stop. Bit by next day it had stopped. So I know what caused it that time. I don’t suppose anything could have alarmed her? Bit yes it’s possible she has a respiratory infection .

Wise to see the vet in any case who can listen to Luna's breathing and heart and advise. She certainly worth it #cutie 😍

Well it sounds similar to when she sniffs things, when she free roams round the flat and goes to a corner you can hear her sniffing. It's like that but constant and she appeared to be trying to touch her nose earlier, you know when hamsters clean, the noise kept happening and she was trying to touch her nose. Vet tomorrow for my little fluff ball. She is almost 2 years old but I just hope this isn't the start to anything. She took some Ella's carrot food earlier and some cucumber but won't drink water from her bottle at present.

I'm glad she ate some carrot food and cucumber, they should help with hydration. yes, it's a very good thing to see your vet. You know Luna the best and she may be in distress. I hope things go OK 🙏

Complete sweetie 🥰 Yes, my guinea pig was making strange noises for a couple of hours at a time. The first vet visit could not find anything and I opted not to medicate. But it got more sustained and I went back. We started antibiotics and Metacam. The noises have stopped so it was a good choice. Polo's energy levels have improved and he seems brighter and is eating better too.

They are so sweet and fragile hamsters, 2 years is not enough time. It really isn't. My previous hamster had metacam. Luna touch wood - has had good health and she's almost 2. But seeing your little fluff balls not themselves is hard.

Unfortunately when Luna passes away, we won't be getting anymore hamsters for at least 5 years.

When we pick the fluff balls up, we get told about the life expectancy but we just say yeah it's fine, but before you know it time passes and they are becoming old.

Luna is my 2nd female Syrian and the bond I have with her is much stronger than Sparkles my other Syrian who preferred my partner more lol but I loved her equally. But the hurt and fear I feel of loosing Luna makes me want a long break before I could take on another fluff ball.

We also had a Russian Dwarf called Tommy, he was funny as hell, his bites didn't hurt, he was aggressive but cuddly at same time.

Me and my partner also want to start going on holidays abroad and now my Nan passed and my brother has a kid, no one could look after a hamster if we had another - so after Luna (I hope not for a long time) we will travel and go places and mend our hearts and then maybe in 2030, we can rescue another fluff ball!

Sorry to go on in this post - as a 34 year old man, I never knew how much these beautiful animals would affect me.

They are so small and take up such a big space in our hearts.

I had my first hamster aged 10. I am now in my 60s and my delight in having a hamster companion has never dimmed.

It is a wonderful honour when they trust you. They are affectionate and intelligent and charming ❤ I hope all works out OK for you. I'm sorry to hear about your nan. She must have been fond of hamsters too.
