I have a young hamster. Through no fault of her own, she escaped her Bucatstate 3.0 enclosure when I failed to close the gate two nights ago. I recovered her at 7:20am the following morning and returned her to her enclosure. She appeared fine before she disappeared into her burrow - but she did not emerge last night, even to eat her food (which included nice pieces of strawberry and cucumber). There was no activity on the pet cam either. I don’t want to dig her out but if too much time has passed I will have to assume something’s really wrong. How long is too long to wait?
How long should I wait to check a hamster’s burrow if I suspect it’s deceased?

She was new to me in March. Having purchased her from a pet store last March, she was smaller in size and I expected she was no more than 8-10 wks old at the time. She appears to have passed away in her sleep. I wonder if the stress from being captured might have had something to do with her demise.

It's possible. It could have been stress - we will probably never know. Some very young hamsters also have a genetic predisposition to a weak heart. It is just very sad. She is playing free over the Rainbow Bridge now. I'm sure she enjoyed that burst of freedom.
Sorry to ask, but is this Samba from your other post, or is Samba a different hamster?

Very sorry to hear this sad news. It must be an awful shock. She was a very beautiful hamster. I wonder if she could have fallen from something, poor girl. Sleep softly over the bridge little Samba
