Hi to everybody, I wanted to introduce my Syrian hamsters Momo(2,5) and Mochi(??) and ask for advice and experiences. I am not new to hamsters as I am having at least one through my life, from pethops and certified breeders , but always a male. I adopted female few days back from relatives, I dont know anything about her backround her age or where she came from, but its possible she may be pregnant. (relatives kept her with other hamsters) I do have her separately. I already counting with the possibility her having babies and I am trying to learn as much as possible if the scenario come. So I am asking experienced people for advice, can I determite she is pregnant if she is not goes through heat in 4 days radius, or its still to early, I want to be prepared.
Also purely from my curiosity I cant determite if she is Ivory or Black eyed white, maybe here is someone with well trained eyes for it.

Hello The gestation period for female Syrians is up to 18 days. They usually give birth around day 16, but it can vary. So you'll need to have her on pregnancy watch. I would count 18 days from the day she arrived with you. Even then it's not always obvious if they have given birth. You can sometimes see them much larger around the back end area, before they give birth. In some cases you can see the little bulges that are the pups, around her sides. But for some it's not easy to see anything. If she doesn't seem much different after day 18, then still keep an eye on her behaviour. Eg if she starts building a bigger nest.

In terms of her colour, it's hard to say from the photo, and if she isn't from a known pedigree then she may not be a distinct official colourway.

Thank you so much for answer, I would continue keep watchig on her and possibly give an update, for now she doesnt look pear shaped, behaviour I cant say as I dont know how she acted previously, but to me she is far more active and she started immediately build a nest which she keep building continously, all my male hamsters where lazy about nests, including Momo as he is senior age and is lazy overall.
Yes Mochi is from petshop I guess with unknow pedigree, as the relatives was not able to give me closer informations, I also give them instruction about separating the other two males. Only information they provide me is that Mochi and the two males are not relatives at least as they have her from different source.

Female syrians are generally very active anyway, and if she has only just come to you, she will be busy sorting her environment, especially if she's only been with you a few days Yes do please give us updates So you'll need to observe for about another 2 to 2.5 weeks. They often don't look larger at the rear end until shortly before giving birth.
