Hi I'm a newbie😊 x

I've got some Bunny Dream expert food coming tomorrow, do I have to freeze it to ensure no bugs and can I mix it with hamster helper food or should I put it separately. Ness

When I watch the night camera footage in the morning's , I'm noticing that Teddy is keeping to a very small area of his enclosure. He literally goes from his house to his wheel does forty miles back to house eats drinks then bed. Have I got his enclosure wrong or could it be because he comes from a small area cage and he's got to adjust 🤔Ness

It's probably just because he's a baby and he's excited about his wheel and not interested in anything else :-) Would love to see the video :-)

It's really made my day today seeing Teddy this morning,he got up and had breakfast with us.it was magical. I'll be able to do his own diary now if he'll just start socialising abit more.

Would like your advice, I'm assuming that Teddy is eating his fresh veg pieces that he has. They are very small pieces but should I check in his hoard to make sure their not going rancid.i don't want to lift that lid and it be the wrong thing to do.once I lift it there's no going back. Ness

Socks gets veg every night and I clean once a week, removing old food to a substantial depth as, being an old ham, he pees in his bed. I've never come across old veg, interestingly enough, so things should be OK ❤️

They usually eat fresh veg straight away if it's just a tiny piece and don't hoard it :-) I have never yet found veg in a hamster's hoard - it's partly why we only give a tiny piece (no bigger than their ear or 1cm cubed size max).

So I wouldn't worry about it at all and it's more important that he has a couple of weeks undisturbed to settle in and adjust fully :-)

It’s so different to many years ago when we were not so educated and didn’t really know how to handle these little fluff balls. I remember I had my hamster out of the cage the next day 🥲 the cages were so small, he was quite happy to come out…
I have not hovered my kitchen in two weeks 😅 luckily I have got stone floors with only a small carpet under the table area. So I have mopped the floor. I sneak around like a theft in the night. Everything to keep the hammy happy 😅. And he shows no sign of wanting to leave his home! He’s not frightened of me at all, but he won’t climb into anything, as if he knows….

I think it depends on the hamster and with the small cages they were probably desperate to get out! I know the feeling about hoovering. Mine used to be scared of the hoover. So I bought one of these 😂 Just for the room the hamsters were in.
