Hey, I am Anna and this is my syrian hamster, Imogen. I just got her for my birthday on Sunday! I have owned fours hamster in the past, and even built my own cage with 16 cubic inches of volume. I took a break from owing hamsters for about two years because of school and traveling and now I’m back in college my schedule is more stable. So, I am joining this forum for some new advice and to refresh my memory on all things hamster care! Mostly, I am currently trying to find some good options for sprays, dried flowers and herbs. I am located in Wisconsin, so it’s a bit tricky to find these things in pet stores. I could also use some suggestions for food and treats, fresh as well as store bought. All and any tips welcome, thank you!

Hello Imogen is gorgeous. I particularly love the photo of her in the round hide. It can be difficult to find sprays and treats - you might find some suggestions on our enrichment article and also in our Amazon US storefront - it has all safe hamster items in ideas lists. I'll link them below. Other US members might have some tips as well. Niteangel also sell little pots of various snacks as well. Some of my favourites for treats are white pumpkin seeds (the ones in their shells), or half a shelled walnut. Looking forward to hearing more about Imogen Some of us start a hamster's own diary thread under the species section, for posting updates, photos and videos, so others can follow and it sort of documents the hamster's progress as well .
