I don't know. Does it say what type of sand it is on the packet? There is so much difference of opinion about sand. It used to be said to be wary of some reptile sands and stick to Chinchilla bathing sand or childrens play sand. Surprisingly there are different types of sand contents - such as quartz, sepiolite etc. And different grades.

Well there you go. If Rainbow is using it and has no issue it is probably ok. I used to get a big bag of JR Farm Chinchilla sand from Zooplus - but can't get hold of it any more (I still have the same bag for now which is very large).

I think the reptile sand without the calcium is fine.

Hi I got a Syrian hamster last week she is 6 months old and I got her from the pet store. She is a shy little girl, but will take food from your fingers if you hold it in front of her. I have given her the Slavic plaza £80 cage, its around 5000 square inches of floor space. I really want to give her a happy life, and I wanted to ask if the PetsAtHome plain wood shaving bedding is safe? It isn’t very dusty but it doesn’t say what type of wood it is on the pack. Thank you and `I’m very excited to care for my hammy!

Hello, just to let you know I have started to hold my hamster and she is very curious to come out and climb on my arms and hands she also climbs onto my hands all by herself
