Hello! New here, not a new hammy owner but haven’t had a fluff for over 2yrs. A lot has changed since then too!!
I’ve started collecting everything ready for a new fluff at the end of July ❤️
So far I have

bucastate 3.0
Trixie 28cm wheel
4 houses - 3 wooden, 1 ceramic
Sand bath/toilet and scoop
Multiple plaforms
Multiple room hide x2 to bury
Food dish but will be scatter feeding mostly
Variety of sprays
Sunflower head thing
Water bottle, holder and bowl
Cardboard tubes
Chipsi classic, kaytee and carefresh
Komodo sand
Bridges and stairs
Chews
2 dig bowls - birch chips, corn cob litter and coco fiber

Am I missing anything important? Thank you!

Hello. It all sounds great :-) Sounds like you are well organised. I personally wouldn't use corn cob litter as it can be a mould risk. But everything else sounds fine.

I would avoid the Chipsi Classic as well. Chipsi uses a mixture of softwoods in their wood shavings bedding and it could have a high pine content. Also I find Chipsi to be quite dusty.

It’s only being used on the bottom, will be topped with the paper bedding but due to the size I went with the most popular recommended by India’s hamster rescue ❤️

I fully agree. I thought it was very dusty and causes hamsters to sneeze 🤧

There are plenty of people, including rescues, already using Chipsi classic. We don't think it's the best choice - but - if you already have it and are mixing it with other bedding, it will be fine and can gradually be spot cleaned out over time :-)

I’ll keep a close eye when I get my fluff. If any issues at all I will swap
I disliked it the moment I opened the packet. Coarse dusty bedding can harm their eyes and the phenols in the pine, which you will be able to smell, are poisonous in the long term 🙁

It gets even more dusty with time… never again 🥴

I’ll get some more kaytee and carefresh then, thank you :) I used to use megazorb because I went through so much 🤣 3/4 hams at a time stacked in Alexander cages 🤣
It smells awful now though so big no no

I agree about Megazorb, I thought it smelt awful too 🤧. Yes, I buy wood shavings for my two guinea pigs and have used several brands for over two years but unfortunately Chipsi is the only brand that has stopped me in my tracks and caught my throat. It was unscented. I ended up throwing a whole bag away as I couldn't face using it 🙁

Ooh someone who had Alexander cages! I always wanted one of those and never had one. I nearly got one but they were out of stock for ages lattery and I got the Barney instead.

Are you in the Uk then? I use Fitch paper bedding - you can buy it in 70 litre bags - been using it for 10 years or more. It works out a bit cheaper than Kaytee or Carefresh - only because it goes further for the same volume somehow as it isn't compressed. Kaytee is a bit softer but fitch is fine. It holds tunnels well if pressed down.

So did you used to have a rescue then if you had stacked Alexander cages? :-)

I’m in the Isle of Man and there are no rescues here, I did a couple in though. I had a robo that had been added to a group by someone and by the time I had him he was missing 2 toes and a bit cut on his back. Was fuming they just dropped him in 😢 he was very happy once he was with me though ❤️

Isle of Man, UK yeah. Most places only deliver fitch to the mainland lol
