Full Solar Eclipse Tomorrow/Wednesday 12th

Thank you to @Coco61 for pointing this out. On Wednesday evening there is going to be a full solar eclipse. There's an article below about it. Most of the Uk will see about a 90% eclipse as the path is west of the uk. Certain parts of Spain (and other countries) will see the full eclipse.

As the article says, you can't look at it without special eclipse glasses or it could seriously damage the eyes and binoculars, telescopes or regular glasses shouldn't be used.

Also I have read that there will be live streaming of the eclipse by the Royal Observatory at Greenwich.
We intend to use that with a space obsessed 6 year old grandson, armed with a colour chart of the solar system on one side and a diagram of the eclipse on the other. Then watch the darkness increase over the garden.

I think we will watch it on TV. I think it will be hard for people to resist the temptation to look up when they don't have eclipse glasses which is a slight concern.

I am hoping that the sun will be below the ridge line of the houses over on the west side so that we don’t have to restrain the grandson too much and only achieve a sulk! That is why any live streaming will help a lot although it goes slowly and at its darkest only lasts about 2 minutes.
Still it will be better than 1999 when we were on holiday in Cornwall at the time of the last total eclipse and the only total we could view was total cloud coverage!

I think we will still feel the eeriness when it goes a bit dark and quiet outside. But we'll stay inside so we don't forget and look up!

Didn’t find a separate program about it - just the One Show which occasionally gave an update. Didn’t go that dark here at all it just looked like it does when it’s a bit cloudy!

It was quite eerie. The birds went very quiet and got a bit confused I think. It's made London a bit cooler which is nice. The light levels dipped a bit and the light has a bit of a glow to it

It's cooler here too, didn't go as dark as I thought it would, but it was still very eerie . It was great to experience it outside here and then see it around the world on TV. Ness

Yes, I had actually forgotten about it, but noticed that it got quite gloomy, and popped outside, and it did seem cooler. Last time round, I do remember the temperature dropping.
