Fruit for hamsters.

I would like to give my Syrian hamster some fresh fruit treats. If he is allowed fruit, which ones would be the best?

Hello. It depends what species of hamster you have . If you have a syrian hamster then there is quite a lot of choice. Ours loves a blueberry or a piece of apple. If you have a russian dwarf hamster, it's best not to give fruit due to the fruit sugars, as they can be prone to developing diabetes. If it's a Roborovski dwarf, it should be fine if only occasionally. In fact it's only occasionally for Syrians as well. I sometimes substitute the daily veg for a bit of fruit.
