Freezing temperatures - keep hammies warm

Just a warning that there are freezing temperatures at night at the moment. In my are it's predicted to be minus 7 or minus 8! So hammies need to avoid getting too cold overnight. If you have a warm home with heating on evening and morning, then insulating the cage might be enough, but it can be an idea to have a burst of heat on overnight as well to stop room temperatures getting too low for the hamsters. Some of that depends what type of home you live in - ours is old and draughty so once the heating goes off at night, all the warmth disappears straight away.
