Sometimes, you just know that you mustn't give up ๐Ÿ™ *Little Friend's Story*
A Story of Friendship.

He'd been here a while,
Had my Little Friend,
He was desperately sick,
But was now on the mend.
The despicable cruelty
Inflicted upon
This beautiful soul,
Had now been undone.
And although my heart ached
To keep him with me,
Up at the skies
He would stare, longingly.
I knew there was one
More thing I should do,
In order that healing
be complete and be true.
And although on that day
Tears poured from my eyes,
I knew this was right
As he soared to the skies.
But this story continues,
That wasn't the end!
He still comes to visit
My lovely wild friend.
And then off he will go,
Once again, wild and free.
And I smile, for I know,
This is how it should be.

Thank you so much for rescuing her. I hate humans sometimes but you give me hope.

After many months of care, Little Friend recovered completely. After release, he continued to return, and one day, to my utter joy, brought along his wife, and his two children. It was beyond anything I'd dared to dream of when I first met this tortured, dying little bird of peace. My precious Little Friend ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

How wonderful he brought his wife and children back! Is that why they are called homing pigeons? They return home?

That is so beautiful!

Yes, pigeons have an inherent homing instinct, and practically all of my pigeon rescues saw my sanctuary as home, a place of safety. (And a place where food was plentiful too, because pigeons LOVE their bellys ๐Ÿ˜‚)
