Thank you elusive. I've also have some on the front garden too.

If I leave them will they self seed?
They should do, they’re usually pretty generous with their offspring! If anything they’re hard to get rid of, not that you’d want to.

They've probably blown in from the wild. The usual wild poppies :) They are very nice.
They could be common poppies, it’s hard to tell without seeing the whole plant, either one will self seed though.

Well, I got my wish. The weather broke here more than an hour ago. Luckily the rain was light at first as H&I were out for our daily walk. No weather protection at all and we took shelter a couple of times and hurried home when it seemed to ease up. Gallant H handed me his sun hat to wear as he knows I hate getting my hair wet. The heavy rain only bucketed down after we were inside. Now it has just about stopped. That will do the garden good but I can’t see the poppies and they may have been beaten flat as it was torrential for a short time.

Maybe not the best timing but I’m glad yo got some rain at last Coco, the poppies are quite delicate aren’t they but I expect there will be more to come.
The weather forecast keeps changing but fingers crossed we might get some rain tonight & tomorrow.

Not much new here now all the Spring flowers have ended. The potentilla is bigger and has more flowers. They are not quite as bright pink as they show on the photo - more of a deep red. The photo doesn't capture it well. The chives are in full bloom and some are ending (but they flower again later in the year). Lots of meadow buttercups everywhere this year - mainly in with the weeds. And one plant in a pot that doesn't seem to have been eaten by rabbits - it's a Vinca (Periwinkle). It was supposed to have blue flowers so maybe the rabbits just ate the flowers. With the pansies they bit off the entire plant down to the soil in the pot! Just a few short stalks sticking out. The potentilla seems fairly indestructible though and it seems rabbits don't like chives.

I do wish they wouldn't bite all the flowers off. I made an enquiry today about barn cats for adoption! OH could take some persuading though.

Thunderstorm just starting.

Did you get much rain Maz?
The poppies have largely survived and not beaten flat or had all their petals knocked off.

We got thunder, dark skies heavy humid air. No rain. This morning it is sunny again if slightly hazy.

Apparently it did rain for 10 minutes last night when the thunder came. Very light rain - not much. I didn't notice but OH said it did.

Thunder finally reached here, it didn’t last long but we are getting some proper rain at last, probably only briefly, it was supposed to be raining all night & into this morning but it was just damp misty stuff that didn’t even make me wet!

I think that's probably what our 10 minutes was yesterday as well. There are probably big thunderstorms brewing though, if the heat continues.

Ok, those were very big bangs indeed. Just now a thunderstorm broke virtually overhead and after counting the seconds between lightening and thunder, it is moving away now. For a short time the rain cascaded down, overflowing our front gutter and was heavier than yesterday. Overall, with the lighter rain as well, it should add to softening up the garden.
Our walk was earlier when there were only distant rumbles- and I took my own hat!
Poor H. He put outside his one tropical yucca while he cleaned the utility room surfaces. He has just realised that it is still on the patio in the rain. Oh dear. I have consoled him that the temperature is still high and will be for days so it is likely to dry out quickly.

It’s been pretty much the same here Coco, the thunder is only just moving away after about an hour & a half, should have done the garden a bit of good.
Zak was out munching on a crock not remotely bothered by the thunder banging away!

Zak is an old pro now. Glad he wasn’t bothered. Munching on a crock must take precedence!

During our walk earlier, the swan family was out on the river and then came out for a rest.
Mum was doing her stuff but no sign of dad hovering around any more.

I don't like thunderstorms... Maybe I should get some crocks to munch on 🤔
