Hi everyone! Writing from France here.
Two weeks ago, I adopted dwarf hamster (russian x cambell most likely). I got him from a nonprofit who places small animals in foster families and try and have them adopted. My hamster is called Grignotte (kinda means "Munchie" in french) and he's about 10 months old. He's very chill and okay with being handled which is really cool. Some friends built me the enclosure. And I made everything from cardboard inside. Happy to be here. See you guys !

Hello :-) Grignotte is beautiful and his enclosure is amazing! Not only is it a great build but you have shown how excellent enrichment can be achieved with cardboard. That is very clever. We have a section on here for cardboard creations (I'll link it below) and it would be wonderful if you could do a piece on how you made some of the items. I particularly love the castle :-)

Also please do add your photos to the "Show us your cage set ups" thread - also linked below :-)

It's lovely you have joined us. Sorry it's a bit quiet this week-end! It's a bank holiday here :-) Is it a bank holiday in France as well? Salut et bisous pour Grignotte 🩷

Coucou et merci pour le message en français ! Sorry for the super late reply, been away from the computer due to neck pain. Thank you for the warm welcome!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I'm excited to be here. I will need to set up a day where I actually come in share photos of my DIYs. Also I've got questions about weight and food etc. AND I have to check out all your little hammys and lovely set ups.

Will do! Thank you very much for all the links. That'll be a great help. The castle is actually a part of the Niteangel wheel packaging 😄

That is very inventive using the Niteangel packaging to create a lovely castle :-) On another note, be careful if you have neck pain using the computer - to avoid RSI, you might need to adjust the work area/ergonomics. Sorry to sound like an old Grandma but just adjusting things slightly can avoid it. Eg if the laptop is on a desk or the desk is a bit low etc. I use mine on my knee, which isn't ideal either! But I get the screen the right height by sitting with my knees up.

Thank you very much for caring and trying to help! It's much more complex than that though : I have a disability situation with chronic issues with muscles and tendons. Thanks for trying to help though! :-) Will post some photos of the castle during the making soon!
