So full of beans & raring to go in his taxi!
He looks really cute in his jar munching on his stash.

Cedric is just like Lilly jumping up and down like a yo yo inside his taxi.

That’s exactly what Davy does in his! I put my chin over the opening while I’m carrying him into the playroom and I can feel his whiskers tickling my chin when he jumps 😁. He’ll probably take a big chunk out of it one day 😂

I've got another monkey here.
When Cedric is up and active and i sit by his cage he will climb and monkey bar towards me then let go, as they do.
It's not a big drop but he could fall on the edge of his house. So, i'm currently sitting here trying to figure out a solution that accommodates an athletic and adventurous hamster.
I need to look back at Rodney's set ups who did exactly the same.

They always think of something we didn’t think of! Could you fix a ledge to the bars or something him to climb onto & off again safely or maybe just pad things out with hemp mat?

That's partly why I go with the deeper bedding - so they don't have so far to fall. But even then they can land on something hard or at an awkward angle. I use the rat sputniks over items like that sometimes, or the roof rat tube. So they can't fall from the top onto anything that's under the sputnik or the tube.

Or the egg box hammock :-) That was to prevent falls too.

I've sorted it by attaching an acrylic panel to the inside of the roof where he was monkey barring.
Falling onto substrate or a shelf is fine but i was worried he could fall onto the edge of his house awkwardly.

The sputnik and tube were temporary to give him another place to go but made spot cleaning and checking inside his house when he's out impossible. Plan was a roof run and had time to put one in today.

The Alaska isn't really big enough for deep substrate because the 12in wheel takes up a lot of space. It will have to do for now and Cedric seems happy enough with it.

Good idea! If it works & he’s happy that’s what matters. I struggle with a nine inch wheel can’t even imagine trying to fit the 12” in.

Thats a good set up. He should be happy with that! If not send him to me and I will sort him out 😂x

That looks good - he'll like it.

What is the roof run Beryl? Is that the tube?

Yes, the tube running along the top so he can't climb up and monkeybar across. He's small enough to run through them if he wants to.

Cedric didn't come out of his house when i put the tube in, dropped things, moved the cage around on its trolley etc so i was getting a bit worried. He came out alright when i put his fresh food in.

He's maybe just a bit apprehensive about the change. He'll soon get used to it.

Just weighed Cedric, 132g but he is small. Not thin, just short.

Not bad. He'll probably flourish though now he's with you and fill out a bit.
