I've been sitting by Eddie's open cage for the last 45 mins. He's not a hamster who'd want to escape i don't think. Eddie keeps running on his wheel.
OH sat by his cage this morning and they were watching each other. Eddie from his sand jar and OH from the futon.

Aw it sounds like they have a sort of unspoken understanding :)

Eddie sounds quite content with his life, he’s not about to run off anywhere!

Eddie has everything he needs. Where would he escape to that's better than Beryl's house? 🏠🐹💕

Eddie sat by his door this morning asking to come out. It doesn't often happen so it is extra special to spend time like that with Eddie.
He's grown into a big fluffy dwarf and weighs 65g now.

That sounds lovely & it’s great to hear how well he’s doing now, he’s appreciating all the tlc.

Eddie came back to me so i put him back in his cage but he wanted out again! I opened his door and he climbed straight onto my hand. He's sniffing around on the floor now.

Eddie is sooo cute! Just showed my partner this and right away he noticed how healthy Eddie looks now.

Has he been taking lessons from Lilly?!
He’s such a handsome little guy & it’s lovely to see him so confident & full of energy.

He looks quite big compared to Lilly! He's looking very healthy - great he wanted to spend some time with you :)

Eddie is bigger than Lilly but Lilly is small. They have different fur which makes him look big as well. Eddie is fluffy and Lilly is smooth.
I've seen Eddie last night but he was too busy wheeling to come out.

I wonder if he was looking for my OH who is away this weekend. They have established a little early morning routine of watching each other and my OH drops some seeds in Eddie hoovers up.

My OH is very involved with the hamsters but not as hands on as me. He offers the hamsters something a bit different from me and some hamsters take to that. Henry and Betsy especially, very much took him and often ignored me.

That is so sweet. It does sound like Eddie was looking for your OH. :)

Even from the photos it’s easy to see how fluffy Eddie is compared to Lilly, they do vary a lot the little Russians.
It shows just how individual they are, how they react to different people & ways of behaving, they have the best of both with you & your OH.

I had to clean Eddie's toilet corner and freshen up the bedding inside his house so he's been wheeling for the last hour.

He only uses part of his cage and hasn't used the burrowing area at all. I think he's quite a lazy hamster who doesn't do a lot. Bit like Ozzy was.

He spends a lot of time inside his house. When he's up he's either on his wheel or sitting in his sandpit.
He doesn't burrow or make tunnels, doesn't build a nest or gather nesting material and doesn't seem to hoard either.
He's not into treats much but has grown into a very large dwarf.

In the morning, the shelf near his food bowl is full of seed shells and debris so he sits there and eats his dry food during the night.

He always eats his brown linseeds and chomps away on his whimzee.
He eats about half of his fresh food and he nibbles on millet.

He hasn't eaten his crock, yippee or mealworms.
His teeth are fine. He flashed them at me when i put him in a holding box while i spot cleaned his cage.

Sometimes he asks for out of cage time but not often.

Reason i'm writing all this is because i'm wondering if he's happy or does he want something else.

I don't think he wants a bigger cage but does he want a different set up.

Ozzy was happy staying at home all the time and he was the dwarf i tried with a bigger cage which made him nervous so i had to downsize him to a Hamster Heaven which he loved.

You always have such great set ups, I think I'd give him a little more time, perhaps he's still finding his own routine. I think it's cute he sits on the shelf and eats all his seeds and some dry food. I don't know a great deal about Dwarfs but he looks very happy in his surroundings and seems happy in his house.

I shouldn't have called him lazy and have to take it back, lol.
He just climbed the bars and demanded to get let out!
